The last pair of Wolverine boots I purchased lasted me 10 years. I had to part with them this winter because the insulation finally started breaking down and there were cold spots in the boots (not wet spots, the waterproofing never failed). At least, I guess that's what started to happen...otherwise the boots are still in great shape.

So, long story short, I didn't hesitate to buy another pair of Wolverine boots. These just arrived today, but my initial impression is that I will be happy with these boots for at least 10 years!

Right out of the box you can see the quality and care that goes into these boots. Every seam is perfect. Since I spend most of my winters in the snow that's a big deal for me.

The fit is true-to-size with just enough space to ensure that your feet stay warm. After a few minutes walking in the yard my feet were still toasty and comfortable. The leather needs to break in a little - to take on the shape of my feet - but it's still very supple.

You really have to shell out a little extra to get the made in the USA Wolverine boots these days, but I think you get what you pay for and then some. If these last me 8-10 years, then I'm still coming out ahead in the long run.

UPDATE: I've recently started a job unloading trucks at a local box store, so these boots are now my winter boots and work boots. I'm happy to say that they are doing excellent double-duty. We haven't had any snow yet, but I've had a handful of shifts on my feet non-stop. These are even more comfortable than my old Wolverines. The grip is great even in the walk in coolers. I don't intend to try out the steel toe...

I purchased these boots to wear around casually, and they will eventually become my work boots.

I work outside year round and am tough on boots, and spend much of my time working in aerial lifts.............which means cold feet in the winter.

I purchased them because they are made right here in my home state of Michigan! Big Rapids to be exact, and they are made at the Bates manufacturing plant that makes boots for our military.... and it's obvious these boots are made to those same exacting specifications!

They have all the things that matter for warm/ dry feet, and they seem to be almost as warm as my 1000 gram Redwings.

The fit seems good, maybe a little narrow but my feet are between widths in size so maybe I should have got the wides...But seem very comfortable and should require very little break in, (unlike my summer Carolina boots that I can't seem to get broke in at all).

I thought the laces going so close to the toe was odd, but after getting these it's helpful as you can adjust how the boot fits your foot. They're not heavy or "clunky" and will quickly become my favorite winter boot. Thanks Wolverine!

the boots are constructed well but there is a 1 huge problem with the design of them. the tounge of the boots are a 2 piece design stitched together at about the ankle and the seem is stiff and rubbs on your ankle causing blisters.. i even tried wearing thick socks but it didnt help. they are water proof and the wind doesnt come through but deffinately not a cold winter boot. not enough insulation.

So I bought these boots around three years ago and I am just now doing the review. First things first; I work in a tire factory and I step in all sorts of chemicals and oils and rubber all day long. The boot tread held up great even in these conditions. Let me also say I wear my boots all the time. Even wore them hiking a few times. Here is my biggest complaint; The ankle supports are some sort of plastic material. After just a few months of use the ankle support started breaking apart and bits of sharp plastic were sticking my ankles. I had to end up making a cut in the liner and pulling all that broke plastic out. That kind of defeats the purpose of ankle support though. Other than that as long as you keep them cleaned and shined they'll last you a long time. Plus they're made in America.

These are some real stompers. They are definitely made in USA. Warm, waterproof, and still look new. Most boots don't last 6 months on these feet. These are really holding up. Working in the USA with boots made in China is just wrong!

I have worked as a technician/cable repairman for over 16 years now. Climbing poles and ladders regularly and working in all weather conditions is a requirement. I bought my Wolverine Northmans over three years ago and I've been nothing but impressed. In my opinion the lower heel design is far more comfortable than the higher heel design common to climbing boots. They've endured many hours up poles and ladders and my feet have stayed comfortable. Last year was the of the rainiest and wettest year I've ever worked and my boots never leaked. Sun, rain, snow, mud, ice and everything in between these boots are awesome. The only way my feet have been wet in these boots is after submerging them over the top. With good (Fox River) socks and sock liners my feet are comfortable in the hottest and coldest temperatures in these boots. I live and work in the mountains of North Carolina and we have four distinct seasons and I'd recommend these boots to anyone who works in this type of environment.
