I did notice that when I put on this boot it felt a little loose so I tighten the laces up and that help with the issue, nice roomy toe box the carbon max safety toes is outstanding in cold and hot weather it does not conduct heat or cold and is very strong but lightweight .break in time was only a few days for me I am up and moving all the time at work and noticed for me they broke in on about the 4th day I was wearing them .
I use to wear Bates all the time, but if this boot does well for me next year when I buy new work boots Wolverine will be my go to boot
**UPDATE** 5/24/11 - Although I no longer do electrical contracting work, I still wear the Amphibians to work, they are that comfortable and light! They are only beginning to show the slightest signs of eventual wear, mainly where the safety toe stops and the other material begins. Slight tear there, but that's to be expected, as it happens to all safety-toe boots eventually. Still going strong, and I still highly recommend these!
*********UPDATE*********I see since I contacted Amazon about this that they were quick to change the description to reflect the actual materials in these boots.

I did have a issue where the boot seemed bigger then actual size.
