Get Empowered from your Cube. The work world is changing and loyalty is no longer rewarded. Give all your passion and work nights/weekends/holidays and get rewarded with an "at will" goodbye. I was in corporate life for many years and was attracted to this Corporate Recovery title because I find that many folks that have endured layoffs are honestly still recovering with a lot of unresolved feelings about how it went; the "why me" syndrome. Having a plan is empowering.
This book is beautifully laid out, easy on the eyes, nice and simplified, but the content is powerful. Though it's not a rant book, it does blow the lid off the insanity of work that is no longer secure and our over attachment to it as if it's secure. Mortgages don't change but most corporate jobs are "at will". Is your mortgage "at will?"
Whether you are ready to make a move or start a backup plan, this book is witty, enjoyable and the Cliff notes on how to break from the mothership or Big Daddy, and how to feel whole and good about yourself
There are plenty of Career books out there making it sound so easy to move on--the exercises make it so simple to identify and promote your strengths, process your emotions, move on and keep it going.
Also note, this is not a women's only book. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!! Read this and KNOW that you are no longer alone in your experiences. Reinvent the environment you can control.
Please don't wait until you feel like your back is against the wall. Start this book while you're still in the cube. If you want to start a new business this book also works if you need some realistic UP TO DATE 2010 and beyond business direction. Not these 1930's ideas. No pantyhose or cufflinks required here.
Now that I'm the owner of my own business solopractice, I revisit it as an uplifting and meaningful reference to solve my current challenges with ease! Upward!
