Let's be honest. Do you have confidence in your own abilities? How do you define ourselves? With money, a nice home, beautiful things, or your looks? Do you struggle with insecurity and self-confidence?
According to the author, women today judge themselves by what they see on TV. They never feel they are "enough" because they fail to recognize their identity is found in a deeper source. Karol Ladd will show you, in the pages of this book that when you understand your purpose and "walk with God-confidence" you will become what God intended you to be.
In the pages of A WOMAN'S SECRET FOR CONFIDENT LIVING, Ms. Ladd shows us how to:
1. Transform your thinking through powerful prayers
2. Cultivate potential by exploring the dreams God gives you
3. Step forward with a strong sense of identity in Christ
4. Deepen relationships and communications with others and with God
5. Shine with joy and assurance of what you bring to the world
Written as a book to study with a group of women, each chapter is short, and easy to read, where Ms. Ladd or someone else shares a story or two, then the lesson is taught with Scripture, and then a "application" so you can apply what you read and learned to your own life. Plus discussion questions are included (at the end of the book.)
English is my "thing" so I was really interested in the word studies there she dug into the root of different words to really show us what is meant by certain things. I found that quite fascinating. Ms.Read more ›
Does this sound like you, too?
If so, this book will be a great encouragement and help change your perspective.
After reading, "A Woman's Secret for Confident Living" I can honestly say that I am further along in my walk with Christ. Upon realization that once we take our eyes off of ourselves and onto the One who "fearfully and wonderfully" created us, our problems become smaller and smaller, and in return, our confidence in Him grows. The personal and real-life examples, Karol Ladd gives are helpful to see how we can practically and effectively start changing our mindset.
I encourage anyone with similar struggles as I to dive into this book full-force and meditate on the Biblically-inspired words Karol has written. Especially take the time to do the "additional reading" at the end of each chapter. You will be blessed.
While there's no radical formula crafted by Karol in this book for overcoming confidence issues, I do believe that God uses her to put His words and truths in a new light that we may have not considered before.
Through reading each chapter you will also discover reflection questions, as well as questions that can be used for more detailed individual or group study. This is the perfect book for a Women's Bible Study or small group, and also has a DVD Curriculum to correspond with.
As you follow Ladd's book, you will be taken through a scripturally sound study of the book of Colossians and learn how to live out loud the truth's found in this little nugget from Paul the Apostle. Karol Ladd using extensive word studies, yet the book is very easy to read, well organized and each chapter concludes with additional scripture reading, practical ideas for your life and a "deliberate plan" for the reader to implement for their own life. Because I read this book for review, I did so quickly but plan on going through it more deliberately and slowly again soon, as part of my own spiritual growth time. A definite must read for all women who desire to live a life full of confidence because of God, not man!
I highly recommend this book and give it a huge thumbs up.

Using the book of Colossians as a springboard, Karol discusses the different truths and lies that either lead us to or keep us from a God-confidence. I love how she addresses each and every verse in Colossians, not even skipping the "ending credits"! There is so much to learn from Paul's letter, and Karol does a great job extracting the truth.
Each chapter is wrapped up with additional Scripture reading, a summary of that chapter, and practical ways to live out the confidence-building principles.
This would be a great book to partner up with a friend, or to use for a group, especially since there are discussion questions and a place for taking notes in the back of the book.
Even better than leaving me with a desire to find another book by her, it left me wanting to read more of God's Word!

I am not sure what it was about this book, but I had a hard time following the readings. It just did not hold my attention as other Bible studies had. Read morePublished on September 12, 2011 by Miriam from Wheels Have Eyes
