The book is conveniently organized into before, during, and after. The before is the necessary preparation for months on the trail, both practically and psychologically. During is how to survive and thrive on the trail. After is about how life may be different after such a profound and personal achievement. The narrative is loaded with the observations of experienced female hikers, and the stories might be worth the price of admission by themselves. Highly recommended.
This is a rare gem of a book on the subject of Thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail and I appreciated it very much!
