One in a series of pricey Japanese CD reissues commemorating the 50th anniversary of A&M Records, Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart's second A&M LP has been given new vitality with a 24-bit remaster. The audio quality of the stereo album is astoundingly strong, while the sound of the five mono bonus tracks ("Love Every Day", "I Wanna Be Free", "The Ambushers", "Goodbye Baby [I Don't want to see You Cry]" and "Where Angels Go, Trouble Follows") is more inconsistent, for which a star must be dropped from its rating.
The disc is kept in a scratch-free plastic sleeve, which is housed in a dandy miniature version of the original record dust jacket. Included is a booklet that's predominantly in Japanese except for English song lyrics (some of the translations are, inevitably, inaccurate).
Along with the new remasters of Test Patterns and It's All Happening on the Inside, these are, hands down, the best sounding Boyce & Hart CDs EVER released (save for some of their bonus tracks). They're limited editions, so don't wait too long before you buy any, but because they're expensive, you may want to shop around and find them at a price you'll like.
