This is such a wonderful keepsake for any new parents! I stumbled upon this at a local bookstore after having read the companion book "On The Night You Were Born." It's basically a ready-made scrapbook with pages to be filled in for all of baby's firsts, as well as info about the world baby came into, like the cost of milk, gasoline, president, etc. One of my favorite pages is the "Glad You/Mad You" page, where the parent can fill in their likes/grievances :). If you're looking for a sweet gift that'll induce tears, this is it.

Families aren't just for husband and wife anymore...the lack of gender pronouns of parents or grand-parents, spaces for recording adoption or other celebrations, and cute but gender neutral pictures and themes make this one of the best baby books around. This book also makes no assumptions about how the child made it into a family's life, so it is really inclusive for all families. I haven't read the book which this baby book is based on but, this stands well on its own.

I bought this for myself and think it would be the perfect baby shower gift! This book is full of Nancy Tillman's gorgeous works of art, making it a keepsake I'll treasure forever. It includes a growth chart with the CUTEST picture of animals standing on each others' heads (polar bear, Canadian goose, duck, duckling, cardinal, frog, and ladybug) and a note card in a pouch on the inside of the book that you can write a letter to your child within. The book contains places to record:

How you felt about baby when you heard he/she was coming
Baby shower details
Your first thoughts about baby
Bringing baby home
Details about baby and his/her firsts
Dreams you have for your baby
Family tree
Dedication/Christening/Special Service information
What the world that baby came into is like (president, hot toys, popular things)
Health record
Personality details
Memories of holidays, travels, birthdays

This memory book is everything I could hope for and the nicest one I've ever seen! Definitely worth buying. :)

Fantastic. Exactly what we were looking for. The illustrations are great, the prompts are meaningful, and there is room for flexibility and creative interpretation. It doesn't pigeon hole you into a certain family structure but still has some traditional elements to it. Would definitely recommend this baby book.

I was so excited to find and receive this book...could not WAIT to begin filling the pages for our little one due any day now. However, when I received it, I cringed at the binding. The spiral binding appears fine at first but as you begin going from page to page and back, etc. the pages do not turn easily. Not a problem for now, but for something I want to last - the pages are already frustrating to me. It is an absolutely beautiful book and I truly want to keep, but must return for a book with a better binding that I feel will hold up over the years as I write in and share with our sweet one.

This is, hands-down, the best book for gay and lesbian families, but would serve any family well. The entire book is warm and inviting and the language is neutral without being awkward (no strange Parent 1, Parent 2 entries). Pages talk about how your little one arrived and joined your family, so whether that was through birth, adoption, or surrogacy, you can add in your family’s details. The family tree is completely blank so you can add who you want and make choices that work for your family, whether you have 2 parents or 1. There is a section for baby’s special ceremony – bris, baptism, naming ceremony – whatever you have, it will fit nicely in this space.
Our favorite part of this book is the questions inviting us to talk about our hopes and wishes for our child as they grow. There are also pages that allow you to observe your child’s personality so far. These are great spaces that will give your child so much insight into who they were and how they fit into your family. We are very much looking forward to sharing each child’s book with them when they are old enough.
There are plenty of pages for photos, “firsts,” and birthdays and these, coupled with the more detailed pages, warm illustrations, and beautiful quotes, make this the perfect baby book.

After a few years since buying it I now see there are many cuter books on the market . There isn't much space to put your pictures in and it's pretty dark colored . I would say it's more for a boy than girls .

This baby memory book has lots of great prompts, places for photos, etc. My favorite is the section where you can input what the world was like when baby was born - who was president, what toys and movies were hot. It's cheesy in all the right ways.

But the best thing about this book is that it's gender neutral (both as to baby and parents) and appropriate for adoptive and same-sex parents! The prompts say things like "when we finally found out you would be ours." And there's room for two grandmas and two grandpas on each side, so step-grandparents can be included without having to awkwardly write in the margins. (There is still a lot of "we" and "us" language, so it is not be perfect for a single parent, but it's better than some.) It is MUCH harder to find a baby book that accommodates non-traditional families than I expected, and this book fits the bill.
