Product Description

Chicago's dynamic Deep Blue Organ Trio returns with their fourth album, this time bringing their singular approach and sound to the music of Stevie Wonder. Influenced deeply and early on by his compositions, artistry and cultural impact, guitarist Bobby Broom, organist Chris Foreman, and drummer Greg Rockingham bring reverence and musical honesty to their interpretations of Tell Me Something Good, Golden Lady, As, and Jesus Children of America, among other gems.

This is DBO's best album yet. The only downside is a possible speeding ticket when listening while driving. I was undecided about buying it after hearing the samples on Amazon, but I figured what the hell, their other stuff is great. Got "Wonderful!" today and popped it in my car stereo on the way home from the gym. I almost drove past the road to my home so enthralled was I by this fantastic chunk of organ jazz. If you like organ jazz, you will love this one.

Being from Chicago I am somewhat bias, I remember Chris playing at Reese's and Bobby at the Other Place Lounge back in the 70's and 80's. My My My what seasoning and time can do, the disc is the best Jazz Album of the year. Stevie Wonder should have included comments in the liner notes complementing this group on the superb reworkings of his compositions. The stylings are brilliant and the interplay is gorgeous. This is one bad CD. Real Jazz is back!

These guys cook when they record, would love to see them in person. This CD is a wonderful tribute to Stevie Wonder and they certainly do justice to the tunes selected. Deep Blue Organ trio is one of the best out there and this CD is certainly as good as any of their others with a lot of soul and dynomite sounds. If you like organ trios, you will like these guys- check out My Cherie Amour or Jesus Children of America. Well worth a listen.

I used to go hear Chris Foreman play B3 most Friday evenings, so I already knew what a fantastic, rare talent he is. Also... love me some Stevie Wonder, so how could I not like this record? Well, it exceeded my already high expectations. Great arrangements, great playing, great sounding record. I just love it.

Jazz is not dead. It doesn't even smell funny. It's alive and well and in good hands.
