Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

For many of us, the adventures of Dorothy in Oz will forever be associated not with Judy Garland singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" but with W. W. Denslow's exceedingly odd line drawings for the original editions of Baum's Oz series. The Viennese artist Lisbeth Zwerger, however, goes a long way toward providing a new and refreshed set of images for the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, and the humbug wizard. These illustrations are often cockeyed, with occasional realistic details thrown in, like a crow with a corncob in its beak in the first portrait of the Scarecrow. The characters have a poignance and oddity that escaped the makers of the Oz movie. --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

About the Author

Frank L. Baum (1856-1919) was born in New York. He enjoyed making up stories, particularly for his own children. The Wizard of Oz, based on their favourite bedtime story about a land of Oz, was published in 1900 and it immediately became a huge international success. He wrote several sequels and numerous other kinds of books under a pseudonym. --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looks amazing!

When you first receive this book you admire how beautiful it will look in your book shelf and there is nothing negative to really say about it.

When you read through you discover how much more story there is after The wonderful Wizard of Oz story. Most people have no idea more stories exist. You also admire how much of a grand imagination Frank Baum has, considering this is only the first 5 stories.

The first 5 stories are…

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
The Marvellous Land of Oz
Ozma of OZ
Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz
The Road to Oz

I totally recommend this to people young and old. I have included some pictures
