Top Piece - The large disk, usually wooden, at the top of the chime that acts as the support piece for chime tubes and suspension top line.

Woodstock Wind Chimes can come with 1 of 6 kinds of suspension tops.
- O-ring, Diamond, Single String Loop, Multi-String Loop, Hook, or an Alligator Clamp.

Clapper - The center piece of wood or other material that actually strikes the tubes to create sound from the chime.

When the clapper in a Woodstock Wind Chime strikes our professionally tuned tubes it creates a beautiful harmonious sound.
Every tube is carefully tuned to specific notes, resonate when hit by the clapper, producing musical tones.
The wind's natural movement and the chime's precise tuning blend to create a unique, soothing melody, connecting us to nature through sound.

Tubes - The “chime” of the windchime, these are the parts of the windchime that are struck by the clapper to make sound. These are called “tubes” when they are hollow and “rods” when they are solid.

Tube String - The “string” used to hold the parts of the chime. All Woodstock Chimes are strung with braided nylon.

Windcatcher or "Feather" - Also called the feather, the part of the chime that is activated by the wind and sets the chime playing.

Center String - Support string that runs from the top wood part on the chime through the clapper and down to the feather. Most center units are strung with extremely durable Spectra line.
Center Unit - Consists of the feather, clapper and string.

This is the third set of these ''Amazing Grace'' (25'') chimes I have bought as gifts, plus I have a set of my own. I don't like the sound of all windchimes, especially the really low pitched or high tinny sounding ones. These are BEAUTIFUL, though. I get excited every time the wind picks up and I hear them. I change out the wind sail seasonally. Right now I have a wooden pumpkin as the sail. Very easy to do. I have had my set for 4 years and they are still in great shape.
