Named for the stormy blue planet 1st observed through a telescope in 1846.

Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun. In Roman mythology, Neptune was the god of the sea, an apt name a planet with the nickname of the "Blue Giant". This wind chime is designed and handcrafted for superior musical performance. It is hand-tuned to a universal, pentatonic (five-note) scale and acts in concert with the wind to create random patterns of wonderful sound. Harmonizes beautifully with all the other Encore Collection windchimes.

Woodstock Chimes Story

It All Started With an Aluminum Lawn Chair...

In 1979, Grammy Award-winning musician and instrument designer Garry Kvistad created the first Woodstock Chime from an aluminum lawn chair he found in a landfill. Fascinated by the Scale of Olympos, a 7th century pentatonic scale that can’t be played on a modern piano, Garry cut and tuned the lawn chair tubes to the exact frequency of the ancient scale. The resulting Chimes of Olympos was the first Woodstock Chime and is still one of their more popular musically-tuned wind chimes.

The Encore Wind Chimes of Neptune features an elegant wood topper and windcatcher with a rich bubinga finish that is weather-resistant and 6 high-quality satin green aluminum tubes that will not rust when exposed to the elements. Removable windcatcher for easy customization. Measuring 54-inches in overall length, this wind chime is designed and handcrafted for superior musical performance. Hand-tuned to a universal, pentatonic (five-note) scale, it acts in concert with the wind to create random patterns of wonderful sound. Harmonizes beautifully with all the other Encore Collection windchimes. This chime carries a lifetime tuning . More than 30-years ago, the first Woodstock Chime was created by founder and owner Garry Kvistad from an aluminum lawn chair he found in a landfill. As a professional musician and instrument designer, he was fascinated by the Scales of Olympos, a 7th century pentatonic scale that can't be played on a modern piano. Garry had the idea to cut and tune the lawn chair chime tubes to the exact frequency of the ancient scale. The resulting Chimes of Olympos was the first Woodstock Chime and is still one of our bestselling wind chimes. Garry and his wife Diane founded Woodstock Percussion, in 1979 and it remains in New York's Hudson Valley.

This has a really good tone and range. Not deep like church organs and not high like neighbors. I was gonna modify it to fit handblown glass ball I have but then discovered it’s precisely designed for performance. The little tailpiece can come off though if you want to engrave for a gift or something.

They appear to hold up quite well in the weather and they look really nice. I’m looking forward to seeing how well they hold up over time after being outside for a season or two. As of now though they are great even though they are a tad bit expensive.

Eine blitzschnelle Lieferung in absolut sicherer Verpackung (gut, das Packet schien riesig, der Schreck war groß) und ein Klangspiel von extrem hoher Qualität. Der Klang stimmt absolut mit dem vom Hersteller ins Netz gestellten überein, ist sogar noch besser. Beachten sollte man allerdings Größe und Gewicht. Aber beides sichert ja den hervorragenden Klang!
