For some reason my boys LOVE these Woody Woodpecker cartoons. Their favorite is The Barber of Seville! They laugh so hard every time. They are 4 & 6, but have loved these for over a year when they were introduced to them by their cousins. At any rate, they are pretty funny. This DVD is a good set. Not sure I would need the BIGGER set and wanted to just make sure it had the The Barber of Seville on it.

The $6.88 pricetag was very attractive.

I was most interested in watching the two episodes of the Woody Woodpecker Show. I was a bit disappointed that Walter Lance's live segments were identical in both episodes.

It's interesting to see the evolution of Woody. Woody in 1940 is almost a different character than Woody in 1951.

While many of the characters and background artwork seem dated, that is part of the appeal.

By far, the best cartunes were the four written and directed by Tex Avery. S-h-h-h-h, in particular, was brilliant.

Throughout the entire DVD, the picture restoration, sound quality and writing are excellent.

It would have been nice to have notes about each cartune in the set or a link to on-line material. A bear looked very similar to Hanna-Barbera's Yogi Bear and acted much like Jackie Gleason's Ralph Kramden -- or was Yogi based on this bear? Another character had the same voice as Huckleberry Hound; voice actors worked for different studios.
