- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2012Color: WhiteVerified PurchaseI waited a full year before writing this review, even though I was thoroughly impressed with Woolzies XL the very first week. These babies really do work! Will they improve your dryer's performance? ... YES. Will they totally eliminate *all* static in your laundry? ... NO, but dryer sheets won't either, and the sheets don't help the clothes get dry faster.
I dry approximately 10 loads a week. After a year of use, the Woolzies have a few pills and one even has a small chunk missing thanks to my dog who chases and retrieves balls much more efficiently than I. The Woolzies utilize escape tactics when you're removing laundry from the dryer, but they are well worth chasing across the floor between loads. Your skills of keeping them contained will improve once you learn their tactics. Although not a pretty as they once were, the Woolzies are still fully functional and look as though they will go another year. (see the photo I've uploaded of a new Woolzie next to my originals that are 18 months old). One reviewer mentioned that they will get in the corners of sheets, etc., which is true, but it does not stop them from tumbling around -- they just take the sheet with them. They will fall in and out of sheet corners many times during a cycle.
Even though my dryer has the sensor that is supposed to end the drying cycle only after the contents are actually dry, it never seemed to work out that way. Unless I was drying microfleece or very thin knits, my clothes and other laundry was never completely dry when the dryer stopped. If I were drying jeans or towels, it was not unusual to run the dryer 2 or 3 times before achieving total dryness. It NEVER happens anymore. No matter how heavy or thick the load, the laundry is dry when the buzzer goes off. The clothes are beautifully wrinkle free as well. Polyester knits still have static issues if the weather is really dry (which rarely happens in Louisiana), but a can of Static Guard Static Cling Spray, Fresh Scent, 5.5 oz. kept nearby takes care of the occasional clinging issue.
Overall, I know without a doubt that I have saved enough to pay for these several times over, when you figure electricity and the elimination of dryer sheets from my shopping list. These are much better than the competing brands, especially the little plastic ones with bumps, which crack fairly quickly and make a lot of noise bouncing around. These only produce little muffled thunks, instead of steady thuds (you get used to it pretty quickly and the sound disappears into white noise). I recommend these wholeheartedly and they also make a wonderful gift.
***UPDATE***: Eighteen months into my use of Woolzies, I got a new HUGE dryer, so I purchased another set of Woolzies to throw in with the old ones. I uploaded a photo which shows exactly what an old, heavily used Woolzie ball looks like next to a brand new one that has never been used. The box that contained my new Woolzies actually reads that the pilling on the Woolzies help them work even better. I'm not removing the pills!
FINAL UPDATE: After four years and thousands of loads, I am starting to retire the original Woolzies. With the large capacity of the dryer, I use 18. The original balls are very loosely bound, and many started to unravel. My cat really enjoys batting them around, and doing the final unraveling. I then cut them into pieces and use them as part of the stuffing for pet beds. Nothing goes to waste.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2013Color: WhiteVerified Purchasemaybe i just had an especially inefficient dryer, i don't know. these have cut my drying time almost in half. but i am using six, and am buying six more. for people who notice no difference, and maybe you still won't, just a thought, try washing your lint screen with soapy water so air can go through it. air stops moving through that screen because of some kind of barrier created by dryer sheets and maybe liquid softeners as well. before ever getting the woolsies, cleaning the lint screen helped drying time. then the woolsies nearly doubled that. used to, i had to wait for the dryer. now my clothes dry so fast, the washer hasn't finished its cycle when my clothes from the previous load are finished drying. this is true even for large loads of heavy towels. i add a foil ball to help eliminate static, but if the clothes overdry, static is still there. otherwise, i have little or no static. i used to hate. doing laundry, but now, between using soap nuts and woolsies, i LOVE doing laundry.
i finally got over the excitement of doing laundry with the woolsies, but i still like them and they work great. i take the quicker drying time for granted now. the novelty has worn off even though the woolsies keep performing. i think it has been almost a year since ordering them.
update: NO MORE DRYER SHEETS almost a year into the purchase, actually more than a year, as my first set of six woolsies were purchased october 3, 2013, and the second set of six were purchased december 27, 2013. they have held up great. i don't know what static cling is anymore, because my clothes come out of the dryer without static. there are no pops when i remove clothes from the dryer, amd no clinging when i wear them. having said that, i am also not a person who wears a lot of nylon. i used to have to deal with static, though, enough so that a box of dryer sheets is sitting in my desk drawer at work to rub on my clothes when necessary, but i no longer need to use them.
3/18/15 update: still using the Woolsies. i purchased two sets of six, and do not need twelve of them, so donated two to the cat as toys. she loves them, can dig her her teeth in and carries them around in her mouth, chases them across the floor, lol! for the ten that are still in the dryer, they look good as new and are still doing a great job. no dryer sheets, no softener of any kind, just soapnits to wash the clothes and woolsies to dry them. i am a happy camper, and so is the cat!

alimReviewed in Canada on August 20, 20165.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised: faster drying, chemical free
Color: WhiteVerified PurchaseHave been happy with these dryer balls. I know they work because my dryer gives an estimated time of drying and I set it on a dampness sensor. So the estimated time is based on the clothes initial dampness. And always, the cycle is completed faster than it originally estimated and I attribute that to the Woolzies cutting down the dry time (as advertised).
Love that it's a chemical free solution to the static. And it's one less thing to have to buy (ie. dryer sheets) and one less thing to have to remember. When you've got kids, cutting down on things to remember to do is so crucial.
They also soft as nice soft balls that my son can play with when I take out the laundry and he finds them in the sheets!
RonnieReviewed in the United Kingdom on November 9, 20145.0 out of 5 stars amazing!! especially for you organic mummies!
Color: WhiteVerified Purchaselove them!! they make my babies clothes alot softer! i use only organic washing powder with no conditioner! this makes them just as soft as using conditioner! once clothes are dry, i put a few drops of essential oils on the wool balls and put the drier on a cool 'freshen up' spin, makes the clothes smell divine and same for the house.

KittyKat38Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 20, 20144.0 out of 5 stars Great size, nice and dense but a bit of a pong
Color: WhiteVerified PurchaseI'm not new to wool dryer balls. I needed a new set and decided to purchase these. They do the job but do have a bit of a pong about them. Dare I say the smell is a bit farm yard. As they used the smell is diminishing but if you find the smell off putting note it does transfer a little to your clothes. They do however speed up drying time which is a bonus on many front.
