Safe and Fun! Every detail is purposefully crafted for the best and most enjoyable bike experience
Small Hand Reach Brake
Our proprietary brake lever (Small Hand Reach) is designed to fit the smallest of hands. The braking concept is made simple on our Woom 2 and 3 models: Easily identify the rear-hand brake by the green color of the lever. This avoids the mix-up of left and right brake. The mini V-brake enables easy and effortless braking for maximum safety.
Kid-friendly Geometry & Light Weight
The beginner friendly geometry is the centerpiece of the bike. It is designed to make riding bikes easy. We offer a low center of gravity for safe balancing, a long wheelbase to support directional stability combined with a weight-optimized and high-quality Aluminum frame construction. When kids feel comfortable on a bike, they will be more enthusiastic about riding.
Optimal Gearing & Drivetrain
The length and width of the Woom cranks are purposefully designed to match the ergonomics of a child. Optimal gearing ratio covers all riding styles and uses. We offer a great ride through optimum handling and perfect geometry. This allows children to ride longer, faster and more safely.
Quality Components & Proprietary Design
Children have specific and unique bike requirements, which is why 85% of our bike components are specifically designed and exclusively produced for Woom. For example, this headset is a proprietary centerpiece offering a light and secure connection of the handlebar with the bike. Bolts are fully integrated into the design of the headset, eliminating the risk of contact with knees.
WOOM 1 | Balance Bike 12 inch | 1.5-3.5 years
First experience on two wheels: The Balance Bike is the perfect introduction to the concept of two wheels. Geometrically designed with an extremely low step-through entry point and a high cockpit, our little ones can enjoy riding as soon as they start walking. Learn to balance on two wheels and start exploring. Key features: Extremely low minimum seat height, rear-hand brake, air-filled tires, steering delimiter, anatomically shaped saddle. Important element: Safety - Learning to use the break at an early age will ease the transition to a pedal bike and will reduce the risk of accidents.
The Woom 3 is the perfect bike to improve bike riding and handling skills. The upright riding position of the Woom allows for easy balancing and a good view of the road. Let the passion for biking begin! The beginner friendly geometry is the centerpiece of the bike. It is designed to make riding bikes child's play. Designed for ages 4 to 6 years our 16” Woom 3 is best suited for riders with an overall height of 41"-47” and the bike weighs only 12.7 lb. The weight-optimized and high-quality A-6061 Aluminum frame construction offers a long wheelbase to support directional stability and a low center of gravity for safe balancing. The bike has a very low step-in height for easy mounting and dismounting and the purposefully designed fork and steering geometry guaranties stability. Our Woom 3 is equipped with quality Kenda Small Block 1,5" lightweight low-profile balloon tires offering great damping, rolling performance and a lot of grip - Schrader valves (car valves) to inflate easily. We selected an all-terrain tire suitable for road, mountain, and city-riding. The tires provide the optimal grip level on straightaways as well as corners. We made the braking concept easy: Easily identify the rear-hand brake by the green color of the lever. This avoids the mix-up of left and right brake. Our proprietary brake lever (Small Hand Reach) is designed to fit the smallest of hands. It can be operated even at very low-hand strength. The length and width of the woom cranks are purposefully designed to match the ergonomics of a child. Optimal gearing ratio covers all riding styles and uses. The freewheel offers significant advantages over the foot brake. Starting to ride and braking is easier with hand brakes only. Kids can react better and faster. Enjoy the ride - We build the lightest and most refined bikes for kids of all ages.

The box arrived, and I immediately put it together and was amazed by the improvements Woom has made in the bike over a year:
The bike was now 3 pounds lighter than the Woom 2, despite being a bigger frame with bigger wheels! The weight savings were done by substituting an aluminum fork for a steel fork, and by reducing the size of the tubes used in the bike.
Assembly is also dramatically improved. The Woom 2 came with V-brakes that were mal-adjusted, and Pardo and I had to adjust them quite a bit from the "out of the box" condition. If you've ever adjusted V-brakes you know that's a pain because they have too many degrees of freedom. Well, this year, the Woom 3 came with brakes that were adjusted correctly!
No more coaster brake option! All Woom bikes now come with 2 hand brakes and a freewheel! This is so obviously the correct design that you would think the bicycle industry would adopt it as standard. But that would be way too sensible, like building a waterproof phone or something, so practically nobody does it. It also means that if Amazon is your preferred vendor, you can buy it from Amazon as there's no need to order a separate freewheel rear wheel, etc.
Bikes now come with a kickstand and bell. The kickstand is dramatically improved from the 2015 version, and Bowen can now actuate and de-activate it at will.
Well, nobody's perfect. There's one obvious defect in the new design:
The rear dropout faces backwards. This is poor design because when you get a rear flat, how the heck are you going to remove the rear wheel? The older Woom 2 had forward facing dropouts like an old-style track racing bike. That's correct, because when you have a flat, you'd undo the nuts (still no quick release, but that's CPSC's fault), push the wheel forward, and the rear cog would disengage from the chain and now you can remove the wheel. If a flat occurs on the Woom 3, you'd have no choice but to get out the chain tool to break the chain so you could remove the wheel in order to fix that flat. Bad design, and a head-scratching one because they did it correctly last year!!
Bowen took a day or so to get used to the bike but now he loves it. It's obviously well done, and he likes it. (He put 100+ miles on the Woom 2, and it'll obviously go for another 100+ miles when his brother learns to ride) As long as he doesn't get any flats on the rear wheel, I'll like it too.
Highly recommended, and kudos to Woom for actually listening to customers and improving their product!
This bike is light. SUPER light. Our 4 year old has no trouble carrying it around. The little scoop/ledge on the back of the seat made helping him ride a breeze, because we didn't have to hold onto the handlebars with him.
Minus one star for a couple reasons - for what we paid, I was expecting a little better quality. The logo on the front of the bike halfway peels off every other day. The back brake will not stay tight. The slipping brake has resulted in a couple big tumbles. We check it now before every ride. The brake levers are pretty carved into now, and the front reflector broke off. When you're 4, the reflectors are a big deal. He loves the bike, so that's all that matters! Issues aside, we won't hesitate to upgrade to the Woom 4 when he outgrows this one.
One week later, absolutely zero regrets. Quite the opposite, actually. Before this bike, my kid had a small balance bike, then graduated to a street-found "princess" bike sans training wheels. On that bike, literally a day before we got the Woom, she could manage maybe 15-20 feet or so between wobbly stops. When we took her to the schoolyard with the Woom, suddenly there was no stopping her. She was not only doing laps, but doing them fast. My heart skipped a bit when saw her wobble a few times at that speed, but thats where the advertised "low center of gravity" seems to really make a difference as she simply recovered and kept going. A week later, yes, she's had some spills, but she rides with amazing confidence. This past weekend when she was stopping to let another kid ride it, she actually did a rolling dismount -- totally blew my mind!
As for the technicalities, yes the bike is amazingly light. But the bearings are also amazingly smooth, so the bike just glides. The other parts of the bike are all extremely well done: the stem the seat, the wheels, the paint, just, everything! And best of all, my kid loves it. And in case this review seems a bit over-effusive, I must disclose I paid FULL PRICE for the privilege of writing this review. Thanks WOOM!
A friend has a inexpensive heavy toddler bike which stands around collecting dust as it is difficult for any kid to ride on/get moving (day and night difference to the WOOM).
Slight trouble with the breaks (trouble getting them fit correctly in the back).
