Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Hardly a dictionary, except for its alphabetical arrangement, this compilation of made-up words is engrossing and fun. Many are eponymous words ( bork , keat , macgyver ), apt but likely to become dated. Some alterations of known words make sense ( macho becomes facho and gacho for females and gays, respectively, and longage equates with shortage ). Some words are simply puns (stand-up musicians feel pianist envy after a long concert, or money-making poetry is bank verse ). By far the largest number of entries blend words ( ad lift , blandiose , ignoramorus , sexistence ). The 800-plus entries come from mostly writers and a few media stars, which sets this book apart from the old snigglets compilations. Cute but insubstantial.
