Maximus (Maxi) McQueen strives for one thing and one thing only and that’s: CONTROL. See Maxi has a side to him that the humans of this world would never understand. He is an entity that is just beyond what control can even think about containing. Even with his protective wolf pack by his side he still fights the animal that is ready to let loose and seemingly wreck havoc on this innocent world. What he doesn’t expect to tip his world on its side is in a form of a man in a rock band with his sexy tattered jeans and ripped shirt. T is able to connect with him mentality and that shakes poor Maxi to his core. He wants T that is purely evident, but can the animal in him stay at bay long enough for him and T to figure out what they mean to each other or is destruction their fated path?
I thought the story in itself was good, slow pace at times. I wondered often where the author was trying to go with the story. There were so many innuendos and secrets that were just screaming to come to the forefront. Fyi, this is book 1..so we have a few books to read in order to see the nitty gritty of what’s going on between Maxi and T. And for a moment lets get to the coupledom of Maxi and T. When the story focused on those two I was in heaven. I think they both are good, developed characters that I can’t wait to see develop more throughout the series. I would have loved to have seen the animal that Maxi is trying to control in him break free, but that will have to be for another day. And what’s up with T? Does he have Maxi’s best interest at heart or is there something sinister about him? I love him, but there is something about him, that in a way, sits a little uneasy with me. Watch out Maxi! I just don’t know.
Am I coming back for more? Hell to the YES! This book ends on a cliffhanger with Maxi making a huge decision that could impact his life entirely… intrigued? Well then what are you waiting for a pick up this book. Out of a 5 I’m giving this 4 stars!
The story starts off with a bang (pardon the pun) and I liked the way everything wasn’t as obvious until the details were slowly revealed about the main character and whom the story was about. The plot was different and with that it held my attention.
Max’ inner beast fascinated me, at first I thought it was metaphorical but upon discovering there was actually more to him than met the eye, his character became a lot more interesting. The only thing I would say is I was left wanting more background and world building in regards to the paranormal aspect. I know this is only book one but his history was just touched upon and I’d have liked to discover more.
T is an interesting character and one I’m not sure I would fully trust. There are many players in this game and it will be interesting to see what is to become of them.
This book is definitely full of intrigue and I was left with a lot of questions, needing to know more about the characters and where the story is going.
Yes, I did. I enjoyed every second of it. I must admit, I was little scared. Cover of the book led me to think it will be something about BDSM, but its not, and I'm so grateful. It's so much more than that.
I never had a chance to read M/M story that evolved sex scenes and I must admit it, I was scared. I've read plenty F/F but this.... this was something completely new to me. And I must admit, I even liked it. The heck with it, I enjoyed it. Kerry turns everything she touches into gold ;) <3
The only thing that bothered me is that the book was to short and I need MORE of Maxi and his story, I just want to know what will happen next.
Would I recommend it? The hell yeah :D
Max is all about control. He needs it. Not having it makes him crazy. Max works hard to maintain control of all aspects of his life. When he feels his control slipping, he goes to Richard who "helps" him rein it in.
T is everything Max is not. He's easy going, he's blue jeans while Max is pressed seams and suits, T is a rocker and Max is a banker and yet they are drawn to each other. Compelled towards one another like a force of nature.
I could not put this book down. I as absolutely hooked from the first chapter and enthralled throughout the rest of the book. The chemistry is palpable between Max and T. The control that Max fights so hard to hold on to is something I could feel in my chest. I loved this book. I wanted to throw it across the room at the end, but I was left with an overwhelming desire for Book 2. I only hope that Ms. Heavens doesn't make me wait too long.
