Andy Sernovitz teaches word of mouth marketing and social media. He is the New York Times bestselling author of Word of Mouth Marketing: How Smart Companies Get People Talking. As a co-founder of a web startup and an ignoramus to marketing in general, I have downloaded and read more than my fair share of books on the subject. Over the last few years, we've been developing our web application (TodayForward) and have just reached the point where our product has been validated in the marketplace. What we have struggled with is how to go about marketing our app and more specifically, how we start and help our subscribers carry on conversations about our product. Since we work in the personal finance world, it's a little more challenging to get people talking about money when it remains a social taboo. Other books on the subject were convoluted and really didn't resonate with our company's situation.
This book delivered where other books have failed miserably. It is the definition of CLARITY. Going back to the basics and focusing solely on what counts is why this book is so remarkable. In about two hours, you can consume the information in this book and immediately put it into action.
I just finished reading it today and we'll be formulating a plan from here. Update to follow.
