I really didn't know what to expect when I started this read, I know, duh, the title should tell me something but I went into this read blind. This is a book that gives, I think, one of the most real worded feels of Presley's life. What I mean is that you can totally put yourself in her place and understand her mindset. She did not have a good life but thankfully she did have her best friend, Chrissy. Who I have to say is one of the bestest best friend character EVER. Emerson, gah, what a sweetheart that boy is. His life wasn't easy either but it was better the Presley's. Each having their own stories in which lead them into each others paths. That is all I can say without giving away too much. AE Woodward did an excellent job on this book, totally recommend! #ReadOn

This author keep getting better and better with each book she writes.

If you are looking for a different kind of story line with twists and turns you won't see coming until they are there...then make sure you read this book! Presley and Emerson are amazing characters. You may have never been through what they have but you will definitely connect with them. You will feel everything they are feeling. You will be on a roller coaster ride of emotions but what a ride it is.

I can't wait to see what this author writes next!

What an amazing read. I picked up this book cause I love this author and once again she surpassed my expectations.
Presley was such a strong person who was dealt a crappy life and who felt didn't deserve happiness...despite that though she fought to better her life.
Emerson was a real life hero, he wanted to be there for Presley and show her she was something special. I loved how he managed to break away the wall surrounding her heart.
The bit leading up to the ending was something I would of never guessed, which made the story that much better.
Loved this book and highly recommend it.

Sweet fancy Moses. This book was amazing. It was gripping, engaging and just overall incredible. I loved the story. It was so easy to feel every emotion along with all the characters. The plot and twists were spot on and kept me engaged the whole time.

This story just leaves me in awe. The twists and turns that it actually took left my emotions never the same. Presley lived a different life. A life that I can't imagine having to go thru but knowing probably somewhere out there, many do. Her saving grace was Emerson and to him Presley was his. Each not knowing that important role each played in their future, Presley continued to push him away thinking she was nothing and would never be good enough for him. Fortunately for her, Emerson never gave up on her. He was determined he would make her see what he sees in her. Having hope that one day you can live a normal life, was something Presley kept close to her mind and lucky for her, she was able to overcome the obstacles in her life to move past the bad and keep moving toward the good. With Emerson by her side, anything is possible. Such a strong, emotional roller coaster ride but one I'm glad I took on. I look forward to reading more from A.E. Woodward!

I read this book with a lump in my throat. It was so desperately sad. I wanted to be the white knight on the big charger taking Presley into the sunlight. I wanted to kiss away her tears and wash away the dirt and grime. But, like Presley, I was powerless.

Emerson was the knight. He was Presley’s champion, her saviour. Fighting his own black cloud he recognised, in Presley, another tortured soul. He was a genuine good guy, a true hero.

When is a secret a secret that should be shared? When you’re in a black hole and need a hand getting out. When that hand of friendship is offered, never turn your back. We all need help at some time in our life and I only wish that Presley had confided in Emerson sooner.

I felt myself shaking with rage when Big Earl called in the debt. I have never felt so angry with any book villain ever. He was evil and what he did made me want to upload the contents of my stomach.

Ms Woodward, while I couldn’t say I enjoyed reading this book, I appreciated this story. It made me emotional, it made me feel repulsed. It made me feel there’s hope for everyone. I thank you for writing such a disturbing book with such compassion. It was beautifully written and proved the old saying love really does conquer all.

5 twinkling stars in the dark from me.

I should 've been sleeping but couldn't until I found out how this book was going to end! A quick read, a story of light and dark, and some definite unexpected moments. Another solid effort by AE Woodward.

This story always kept you wanting to read! It is nicely written and gives a different perspective to a profession and the people that are in the middle of it. I would recommend this book to anyone that would like to read a great unconventional love story.
