" Like you, I always said "No" when people told me I need to write a book. My reasons are the same as yours. I don't want to be a published author for the sake of being a published author. I will only write if I have something important to say that has not already been said by others.
Last years I read Vladimir Megre's Ringing Cedars Series. It's the first time I came across the idea of a Family Book. It's written for our descendants for them to know why we have built the family home in such a way, why we have planted certain plants and what to do with them........ That's the family legacy that could be lost to posterity if we do not record it in writing. At that time, I told myself I have to write my Family Book. However, since the Family Book is linked to the homestead which I haven't yet created, the idea fell by the wayside.
So thanks for reminding me that there is a book only I can write. In the old days people had the benefits of story-telling from their elders. Now, family members are scattered all over the world and I often feel sad that I have not been able to share with my son my insights and experience. When we were together in his teens, it was impossible to get his attention for more than 5 minutes let alone doing any serious talking. The book is an excellent idea. One day he may feel compelled to turn the pages. If not, his children and grandchildren may. I think it's actually something that everyone should do.
I know from our conversation at the Sanctuary and from browsing your library that we are very similar in our worldview, belief and approach to life. Many of the things you said in the book could well have been written by me. I am very tempted to send my son a copy of your book and just say DITTO !
I have recommended your book to many people. I look forward to more sharing with you the next time I come to Mountain Light. I actually prefer to come in winter when it's quieter but I'll hate to miss the wisteria blooming."
Read his book. You have to agree with him at least on one thing : that he is again showing the way on how to leave a wonderful family legacy to your descendants.
Mountain Light Sanctuary and had life-changing conversations- myself included.
This book is the next best thing to being there! Wise as a sage, practical as rubber boots
and playful as a woodland elf, Michael Lightweaver seems to be on this earth to remind us
again and again that life is always happening FOR us, not TO us. A great gift book for yourself
or anyone you know who is questioning life and could benefit from some porch-sittin'.

Michael leads us through his own life in an honest and thought provoking way, outlining the lessons he has learned as a result of his own personal challenges. He includes many of his writings over his career, which are nothing short of insightful and inspirational. Although we have lead different lives and in different countries the message of love is mutual and our spiritual journey often similar in appearance.
Once a ‘church man’, he describes this period within an organised religion as his ‘spiritual kindergarten’. The bible does get a bashing in terms of it harbouring fear and outlining man’s manipulation. But to Michael now there is only one central teaching, “love God with all your heart, mind and soul, and your neighbour as yourself.” It can’t be any simpler than that and doesn’t take a lifetime to study.
Michael is a shining beacon of love and an important teacher in terms of understanding one’s own spiritual truth, but claims he has many lifetimes left here to achieve total nirvana. I think he’s closer than he thinks!
