I liked this little booklet. It was an easy read, straightforward, and informative regarding its topic. It explains a small business' need to create an Internet Presence. And it goes through the basic ways to create such a presence. Obviously you will need a Web site. A blog would be nice to have, too. And then getting involved in the LinkedIn site was also suggested and explained pretty well, too. A few other social media sites were mentioned like Facebook, but not overdone. I appreciated this since I am not a Facebook fan.

The author is a consultant to companies needing help with their Internet Presence. So the book is clearly a marketing piece to help promote his practice. Although I thought the booklet was well organized and well written, I thought it was kind of short to be called a book. I've been doing some reading lately on selling books through Amazon as ebooks and based on what I have read the Kindle edition of this book probably should have been no more than $3.99 and probably should have been priced at $2.99. This brings up an interesting point regarding this book - the use of Amazon as a way to sell content ( information & marketing materials) is yet another consideration when creating an Internet Presence mix. The author failed to discuss this, and I think it probably should have been discussed. Do you price such products at a higher price to make much money? Or do you price them so they will sell and be read at a lower price? 4 stars!

Goodman does an amazing job with this book. If you're trying to navigate the world of internet marketing, then this is the book for you. He really knows where the key points are and where you need to focus if you want to make a splash in the internet world. It is so easy to get lost with all of those bigger, higher ranking companies/websites/authors/Fill-in-the-blank. For someone that is always looking for an effective way to get my name out there, this book is key. As I read it, I went through some of the things I had already done and tried to improve them based on his suggestions.

This is the kind of book that you'll want to make little notes on things to come back to. I know that there is a ton of important details he talks about that I want to know more about. Goodman points out things that you'd never think about unless you either knew someone that was doing this before, had done it before, or paid for the service- and he puts it at your fingertips!

Since this book is just the first installment in the series, I cannot wait to find out what other gold mine he'll produce in the next pieces. If this is the basics, what will come next? I can only imagine it will be just as full of useful information and good tips!

This book is a must have for everyone- not just those starting out. Because let's face it, no matter how long you've been at it, chances are you've forgotten something that he mentions! Check it out, it's a great piece, full of useful, well thought out information!

I read my review copy of Jonathan Edward Goodman's work over this past weekend and enjoyed it. The author states in the Introduction that he set out to write an "A-Z" book on Internet marketing but then decided to split it into three volumes, this work being Volume I in the series.

He covers the basics about online reputation and brand management, the value of LinkedIn, Twitter, WordPress, blogging, and other social media sites and then goes on to scratch the surface on website design and architecture that will deliver maximum results for your efforts. If you are new to Internet Marketing then this is a good starting point. I only remove 1 star due to the relative shortness of the book which is 55 pages of content.

I'm looking forward to reading the subsequent "advanced" volumes.

Let me tell you a little about myself... I am a your average female, nearing 40, working deep in the bowels of corporate America in a job that has nothing to do with PR, marketing, web design, etc. I am raising four children of varying ages while juggling a demanding job and busy family. My reading interests usually run somewhere along the lines of popular non-fiction and biographies.

Now that you have that information about me, you are probably asking yourself, "Why in the world would this person pick up a book on internet marketing and read it from cover to cover in one sitting?!?!?" Well, I consider myself an above average user of social networking, and about 90% of my non grocery and fuel related purchases are made online. I like to know how things work, including the internet. When I am looking for products and services to purchase online, I want to know the how and why I am directed to particular websites over another (why yes, I am part geek too I suppose).

Mr. Goodman's book was a candid, basic look at how to market your business on the internet. It was written in simple, plain English that didn't use difficult business jargon to help me, a non-business owner, understand how companies can grow using social media to market their products. Reading this book gave me some powerful insights on how to increase my purchasing power using social media, how to find and work with businesses that I can connect on a personal level with (I am a huge supporter of small, local business), and even how I might even use social media to save money when I buy! WIN, WIN!

It may seem a little odd and backward for a person who isn't attempting to gain more customers for their business to read Mr. Goodman's book, BUT, if I learned something... you certainly can too!
