This essay is outstanding and should be read by anyone who wants to fully understand what happened in their interaction of illusion with an NPD. I am one of those people who can handle most anything that life deals me as long as I can understand it. This book helped me to do just that - to understand what happened - and to come to terms with the end of my relationship with someone who acted unwilling (and was most probably unable)to treat me and my agenda with respect and dignity. The essay gave me insight into the soul of the narcissistic and the result was pure empathy for that person. I learned that I cannot let charm draw me back in for more hurt and pain because this disorder is bigger than me and my ability to handle the resulting discomfort. The author is to be highly commended for his work. I found it outstanding! Many thanks to the author for allowing it to be on Kindle as I am certain it will prove to be of help to a great many people.

This is a good book and gives some information about Narcissism. However, I was writing a book about an extreme personality type and wanted to see if this person suffered from narcissism. From the vague description I was unable to determine if this was the dominate trait because it limited those afflicted to unsuccessful people. The book inferred that a narcissistic person would not be successful because of their problem but I discovered that the very rich abound in most of the descriptions except the disclaimer that they are not successful. Also, I would have felt better if it had a few examples of real cases that clarified the affliction. It is a good book and for the price gives you a feel for those who suffer from this malady.

My partner was a narcissist, one of my bosses had this problem and I had difficulty in understanding what I was confronting. Now I know! Now I am able to identify this disorder quickly when meeting a narcissist. My therapist was correct: she was seeing the victims not the narcissist, advising us we were not crazy, it was not our fault, the narcisist cannot be changed. Its the victims who need help. The book, "Malignant Self Love" has the tools and the remedies for victims. I have been reading book after book on the subject of narcissism since I realized this was the cause of the toxic relationship I have with my brother. This was the best book I have found so far on the subject. It described the behaviors with which I have been living for my entire life. So I thought I would read this - but only got about half way through it - I found it repetitive and quite dry. I preferred Narcissism - Denial of the True Self by Alexander Lowen.

The more I read, the more it just clicked and I was eerily surprised to find so many descriptions in this that fit the person I had in mind while reading this.
