The main character of Cyrus is into games, and frankly, I’m not. But as I continued to read, there was a mystery to be solved, and I do like mysteries. And I enjoy sci-fi. Part 1 was a bit slow in going for me. The first part of the book involves Cyrus trying to find something from game clues. It had a similar feel to the Pokemon Go game craze, but Cyrus finds there is much more going on, which led to Part 2 and the whole story picked up speed and action. As it’s pace increased, I found I couldn’t put it down. I was surprised how fast I got to Part 3 and I found myself burning through the rest of the book. I enjoyed it a lot. It has a bit of an Ender’s Game feel to it, some of the Ready Player One feel as well, only geared more for the YA audience. It was a satisfying ending with the possible promise of more to come. I’d recommend it to a sci-fi enthusiast. It was a good first novel, worth the time to read. I could see it as a movie, very visual.
As a former Design Artist who worked in the Games industry, I could appreciate the Author's inclusion of his knowledge of Art & Painting into the story line. Although this book is aimed at the YA market, it held my interest from beginning to end and I look forward to the next chapter in Cypris Orbick's challenging position at World Saver Studios. Two Thumbs Up!
