Product Description
An ancient evil lies dormant within Deepholm, the domain of earth in the Elemental Plane. Hidden away in a secluded sanctuary, the corrupted Dragon Aspect Deathwing has waited, recovering from the wounds of his last battle against Azeroth and biding his time until he can reforge the world in molten fire. Soon, Deathwing the Destroyer will return to Azeroth, and his eruption from Deepholm will sunder the world, leaving a festering wound across the continents. As the Horde and Alliance race to the epicenter of the cataclysm, the kingdoms of Azeroth will witness seismic shifts in power, the kindling of a war of the elements, and the emergence of unlikely heroes who will rise up to protect their scarred and broken world from utter devastation.

I am not going to give some long blown out review about the game since there are plenty of reviews of that nature on Amazon for this game and its expansions.
One reason I find this hard to review is because this expansion added a lot of content. However "most" of that content is available to all WoW players regardless if they have this expansion or not.
A couple of the more tangible things that do come only with purchase are the two new races and access to the higher level cap.
What everyone got was the real meat though. The entire 1 to 60 level zones were reworked with better quests, quest lines and story. The entire game got a graphical overhaul including the water.
I really enjoyed the new races though I ended up not playing them past their starter stuff.
The Collectors Edition was really nice just like all the other versions were. I never opened the art book but it looks to be of high quality.
I don't play the card game but I did open them up to get the loot card out. I am currently using the mouse pad and as far as it is concerned its pretty standard fare and works as it should.
Also, you would think that people would know where the pet was from but I kept getting asked where I got it from. I am sure most players do know its from the CE but there are plenty that go "ooh whats that from".
Anyways, I enjoy WoW every now and then, I buy all the expansions and for me the end game is more like work and less like fun. I give this expansion and the game as a whole 4 stars because I do have fun when I play it and I can't really knock it down for things that I find to be shortcomings because they aren't my kind of thing, when to other people it is just what they want and they love it.
Cataclysm essentially evolved the original game to be more socially specific and made the game world much more dynamic through "phasing" (for those unaware, phasing is when the game world changes based on your personal characters development through quests, objectives met, etc.). The graphical improvements to the game are beautiful and the "old world" of Azeroth feels new and fresh, at least to me. The two new races, Worgen and Goblin, are both fun characters to play from level 1, and max level characters certainly weren't left out either, with a very large amount of near endgame content to play through. This is by far the most balanced gaming design I've seen from Blizz.
Gameplay character balance is still skewed to some degree and I am sure we will see changes made through patches to correct some classes that overly benefited from the changes, but level 80+ content was flawless for me. I know some had problems with phasing or perhaps not understanding how phasing actually works so there was some complaining in the game (and off) about glitches and bugs, but come on, let's be honest here, this was probably the best launch for Blizzard EVER. I had the least problems installing and playing through this expansion than any other.
As far as the Collector's Edition is concerned, it's on par with every other expansion's CE. The concept art and execution in the book are brilliant, and the music can be serene and severe. It also comes with an in-game non-combat cosmetic pet aptly called Lil' Deathwing. He's not the cutest pixels on the screen but he's quintessentially WoW. Oh, you also get a free pass to try Starcraft 2 for those interested as well.
I am always pleased with Amazon. Customer service is always willing to help with issues and I typically get things exactly when I'm supposed to. This time was the exception, but Amazon made up for it. Thank you for that Amazon! With Blizzard's record setting release shipping glitches were bound to happen. But again, Amazon was very helpful and responsive to my shipping issue.
Overall, If you like immersive fantasy worlds that actually change as you make things happen, you'll really enjoy this game. Heck, I know two people who just started playing this over console games and love it. Give the trial a try and see what you think. Maybe I'll see you in game :)
Everything showed up in great condition, especially nice since I am serving overseas in Japan at a FPO address and sometimes packages don't get the care that they should in the mail.
Anyway, I am going to give this a 5-star review.
For all the people commenting on the community, it can be vile at times, but we aren't rating the community on this page, we are rating the product. For anyone concerned about the community, there are parental controls that will help you control what your child is seeing/doing so you wont have to worry.
