"There's tons of lore for the story enthusiasts, including — wait for it — an official timeline of events, something many of us have been clamoring for, for quite a while now. If you're a big WoW geek (like most of the staff here at WoW Insider)it wouldn't be surprising for this book to earn a place of pride on your bookshelves." – Joystiq.com

The only criticism I have is that it advertised a lot of "behind the scenes" stuff which only consists of a few pages near the back of the book that doesn't provide any insight at all, it's just like "photos from BlizzCon," etc. I didn't order it for that, so wasn't put off by it, but some might be.
The information it provides is also very minimal and mostly things you would already know if you have played the game very much. I'm not very good with keeping up with the story within the game (even though I have played since release) but even I know most of the information in this book. Just don't expect this to go into much detail or back story, it's just a quick recap of the main people, places, and things in the game.
I don't think this guide is bad, but you should know who this is for.
It's not for those that want a show piece with beautiful artwork and some light back story, I would not use this as a coffee table piece or anything.
and it's not for those looking to really dig deeper into the story outside of what the game easily offers, I'd recommend the new World of Warcraft: Chronicle Volume 1 for that.
But I do recommend this for someone new to the game that wants to catch up on the story and have a better understanding of what is going on. It will take you through the story line up until the end of the Warlords expansion. Making it perfect for someone just starting out in Legion.
2) The Chronicles of Azeroth
3) The Alliance
4) The Horde
5) The Pandaren
6) Heroes and Villains
7) Behind the Scenes
Now the book's information isn't just about the MMO version of Warcraft but also the previous games about it. Although I have yet to finish reading the book, my favorite part so far has to deal with the Chronicles of Azeroth because of how the book explains the timeline as well as the important figures within that timeline such as the Titans and Sargeras, the Burning Legion, Ner'zhul and the War of the Ancients. Unfortunately, there is little information about the Old gods which is to be expected considering that they are still a mystery in the Lore.
The design of the book is magnificent because of the hard cover and a removable book cover to have the cover of the book just show the design of the cover without any text. Just see the picture of the product and imagine it without having the title as well as the text in the bottom. Although the book still has the publisher in the back as well as the barcode but that's alright I guess.
Overall the book deserves a 9.5/10 and 5/5 for the moment. Perhaps I'll come back to edit it when I finish reading the book.
The book is spectacular in it's presentation, color, and eye-catching panel arrangements of the information displayed on each page. The book gives nice insight and details into the history of World of Warcraft, and explains itself in a way that very easy to read and understand. I suspect that veteran players of the game, and the plethora of books that came before this guide may find the contents repetitive. The information is presented in very simple layout/description, in a terrific way that new readers & gamers alike will find interesting; Introducing all aspects of the lore & story of this enriching franchise.
Blizzard has the best artists in the business. The characters, locations, and scenes are very vivid, colorful, and detailed. As someone who enjoys this type of art, it was great eye candy to thumb through the pages - absorbing the beautiful details & style that is WoW. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I'm happy with my purchase. I recommend it to any WoW fan, and it's nice reference material to have too.
Two thumbs up! ツ
