How is the price of a work of art determined? Why do some pieces skyrocket while others fall flat? This book tackles the enigmatic art market, offering a clear and engaging explanation of the forces that affect the value of art. The value of art today is more relative than ever. All elements of a sale - identity of the buyer and seller, where the art is sold, and the social potential - are explored in The Worth Of Art: Pricing The Priceless. Illustrations of record-breaking sales, new important galleries and auction houses, make this book fundamental for anyone who wants to understand today's art market.

This book frames the economics of how speculation, marketing and even personal hubris can drive the extrinsic price of art. It is a good read if for nothing more than to be open minded to an alternative viewpoint to the sea of voices that represent "the market for fine art".
