I loved these two as a couple. They both seemed to fit together so nicely even though is some ways they were opposites. I loved that both Nico's gym family and real family welcomed Elle so quickly and didn't really give him a hard time about it.
I loved the quiet times between these two. Being each others rocks when the other was in a bad place. I loved how Nico just held Elle when she told him about herself.
The one thing that bothered me about this book was the continued internal dialog from Elle about how hot Nico was. Every time they were together it was mentioned or how one look could wake up her lady parts. It was just too much.
This was a pretty good story. I liked both Elle and Nico and their story was enjoyable without being overly drama-filled.
Elle is a lawyer at a small law firm that she's been working at since she interned there right out of college. She's happy with her job even though the guy she's dating, William, thinks she should move to a larger firm. William is everything Elle thinks she should want in a boyfriend but their relationship is more along the lines of friends with benefits. Unfortunately, Elle's become bored with the relationship and isn't very interested in the benefits any more.
Nico is a championship winning MMA fighter that is on a break from fighting. About a year before, Nico was in a fight and a hit accidentally killed Nico's opponent. Even though they found out the guy died because of a brain aneurysm and through no fault of Nico's, he hasn't been able to face going back in the ring. He still has some endorsement deals however and it's one of those deals that brings him to Elle.
William is a lawyer that has Nico as a client and brings him to Elle to consult about his case. She agrees to help them with the issue they're having but it's clear from the first meeting that there's an attraction between Elle and Nico. William seems oblivious though and Elle is left trying to figure out how to proceed. Nico comes back to see her and asks her out but makes sure she knows it's just for a platonic dinner until she figures out where things stand between her and William. the dinner goes great and although she's a bit stressed about it, Elle quickly ends up breaking things off with William so she can go out with Nico.
Once William is out of the way, Nico and Elle find that their relationship falls into place almost easily. They fit together well and things seem good between them. There are some issues to deal with though and most of those harken back to Nico's fight that went wrong and whether or not he'll go back to fighting. And if he does go back to fighting, how will he handle his first fight back in the ring. Overall, the story wasn't majorly dramatic but Nico having to deal with what happened in order to move on, does provide some drama that has to be dealt with. I felt bad for them both but I was happy that Elle and Nico managed to get past the issues to end the story with a well deserved HEA together.
This was a pretty enjoyable story. I liked both Elle and Nico and was happy with how things turned out. The road to that ending was a bit rough but I think the story was well written overall and I'd recommend this story. :)
* note - I listened to the audio version of this story and the narrator did a very good job.
Vi Keeland, you have my heart for finding the ability to put these feelings in written form. Thank you.
I think Elle and Nico were in fact destined to be together. To pull each other out of their darkness and into the light.
Each feels as if their secrets that are hidden will repel the other until Elle is brave enough to open up to Nico. It’s all the moments they are together even from the very start that builds that trust to the moment Elle opens up. With everything to lose, she goes for broke and it couldn’t be a more fitting nor more beautiful a moment where they bond together and fight their demons together and separately. To finally heal.
Great book. Highly recommend.

Nico was so swoon-worthy and fan me down hot!!, a fighter with a tough exterior a soft heart.
Nico hadn't fought since he won a fight over a year previously and due to his opponent having something on his brain he died when he hit the mat. Nico still hadn't gotten over that night, still blamed himself and just couldn't move on, even though he kept up with his training, he could't put himself in the cage for a title fight until he felt ready and that day just wasn't coming.
Elle is a lawyer she has her own past nightmares with a father who was abusive to her mother. The day Nico was brought into her office by her then current boyfriend who was also a lawyer just to check over a contract it's like the stars aligned.
There is no cheating in this book although Elle is in a fizzling out relationship when she first meets Nico.
“When we met, we were two injured souls. Both keeping the real out of our lives for fear of what we might find".
"I never believed in destiny. Thought that was a bunch of crap for people who read too many books. Until I met you. You’re it for me, Babe".
Worth the fight is a heartwarming story with angst, hotness, and drama woven into the plot.
"He’s mentally searing the moment into his brain, capturing it forever like an artist with a brush. I can feel it. It’s adoration and lust and love and every other heartfelt emotion rolled up into one perfect man who loves me and couldn’t hide it if he tried".
WORTH THE FIGHT is a good story of self-forgiveness, finding true love and moving on.
Elle is just flatlining along through life. Here ‘boyfriend’ is her good friend from college who turned into something more, but there’s no passion in their relationship. Her job is her life. She’s just existing, living a ‘safe’ unexciting life after suffering a traumatic past.
Nico is an MMA fighter who is frightened to get back in the cage after a horrifying accident about a year earlier.
They have an undeniably connection from the moment they meet. An attraction that fires up Elle’s boring existence and makes Nico want to live, again.
I loved the chemistry between Elle and Nico, and how they find joy and a reason to live in one another.
Just the right amount of angst, some well written steamy scenes, and despite it not being a page turner, the characters connected and were likable. Not a wimpy female lead in sight, and no sequel, which is unusual of late. All this along with very few grammatical or spelling errors...think I noticed 1...made it a pleasure to read.
Worth the Fight is worth a read in my opinion :)
This was a knockout for me, I was so surprised about how a book about a MMA fighter could actually in fact be one of the sweetest books I've ever read. Elle and Nico are two people who on the surface have it together but in reality are held back & unable to deal with events in there past. That's is, until they find each other. As sweet as they are there is obvious heat between them and they are a very hot couple. I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little jealous of Elle.
kept thinking I'll just read a few more pages and there I was about 5 pages from the end. It's a great book, I fell for Nico and he's about 30 years younger than I am. He's tattooed, built like the proverbial brick shed, cusses like a sailor and has a heart of gold. What the hell else could you want in a man. Did I forget to mention his eyes?
Is this a good book - oh yeah!
Do I recommend it - hell yeah!
