Grayson Malone is the third of the Malone Brothers in Bromberg’s Everyday Hero’s Series. He is a Rescue Pilot who puts his life at risk every time he gets into his chopper. His mission is to aid those critically injured and in need of quick transport to the hospital.
Sidney Thorton is a woman born with a silver spoon. Fashion forward, use to the finest of everything… especially her Louboutin’s, Finding herself on her dad’s “screwed up” list for missing an exclusive meeting with a client. Little does her dad know what caused her to mess up, all he knows is that she screwed up big time.
To atone for her mistake, she been given an assignment to return to Sunnyville. Her assignment to help save the publication and increase their readership. With the brilliant idea of having a Hot Dad contest she puts her plan in motion.
The thing she didn’t count on was an obstinate, belligerent, sexy as hell Grayson Malone. Then finding out that he had been entered into the contest by his brothers, Grant and Grady, made the chances of him participating in the contest even slimmer. So, ending up in the Top 10 had little relevance to even do it. Yeah, Sidney had her work cut out for her!
Oh, but there is a little history with these two. Grayson and Sidney had gone to school together. Living in different worlds him from a blue-collar family working at a diner. The same diner Sidney and her rich friends frequented, often subjected to their indifference, rude and thoughtless ways. How would Grayson look at her now, years after she had left Sunnyville?
But what happens when Sidney begins to chip away at Grayson’s resistance to being in the Hot Dad contest. Yet while she is doing this there is this super-hot chemistry just below the surface. While Grayson could have his pick of women form the town it’s Sidney he’s got the hots for. Burned once, he’s not about to jump back into a relationship! He’s got his son Luke to think about and no one will hurt him or his son again.
Even though getting involved with a single dad with a child is the farthest thing from Sidney’s mind it’s hard to resist Grayson. Not just Grayson but his son Luke. Luke is another one of the special parts about WTR! His innocence is endearing and OMGosh, I laughed so hard with his discussion about innie or outie with Grayson!! He was so very endearing. Guaranteed to tug at your heartstrings!
As Grayson and Sidney became more intimate and comfortable with each other he revealed why he would never commit to a relationship again. How Luke’s mother had walked out on them when he was just a few months old. Grayson was determined to protect Luke from her and her family any way he needed to. It was pretty clear that Grayson had it as bad for Sidney as she did for him but he would have to work through these feelings if they were to be together. An amazing love story that will take you from heartwarming to sizzling hot but also bring you to tears.
Will Grayson and Sidney find a way to navigate the ups and downs of emotions to find there HEA?
Worth the Risk is seriously a MUST READ!! Well done Kristy!!
Grayson Malone was the brother whose story I was most looking forward to. There’s always something about a single dad whose complete devotion to his child is so evident in every decision he makes, that calls to me. Add that to the melancholy air about him and how could I not love him? After reading his story and finding out what had made him the way he was, I was completely devoted to Grayson. Even when he was being a judgmental jerkface.
I kinda wanted hate Sidney, for the same reasons Grayson did, but that first chapter? I couldn’t. Despite what she was on the outside, what her father thought she was, who she thought she was, sometimes, what she did for her friend proved the truth of who she was. Watching her come into her own and discover that she was stronger, better, more compassionate than she had given herself credit for was heartwarming.
Sidney and Grayson’s connection grew on me just as it did on them. I could feel the tension from their first interaction, but I couldn’t discern if it was derived from hate or chemistry. Slowly that spark grew into a tangible thing, every time they were together, there was a current powering each touch, every glance, every word they shared. I lived for the moment when it all exploded, and they could no longer resist the pull. The hatred may have still been a defining force between them, but there is a reason people say there is a fine line between love and hate.
Luke was the shining star of this book. If it weren’t for that sweet boy, there would be no Sidney and Grayson. If it weren’t for his innocent coaxing and matchmaking, there is a good chance Sidney and Grayson would have let their pride get in the way of a truly magnificent relationship. And the love both Grayson and (eventually) Sidney had for the boy completed them. They both seemed to care so deeply, and in an all-consuming way, they needed something to temper that kind of overwhelming love.
Worth the Risk is the third book in K Bromberg’s Everyday Heroes series. The series follows the Malone brothers, with each book being about a different brother. This is the third and final brother’s story, but there will be another book, Control, about a family friend. It is not necessary to read the first two books, Cuffed and Combust, to understand this book. Worth the Risk is written in dual first-person perspective, narrated by Sidney and Grayson.
K. Bromberg writes fun, flirty, heartwarming contemporary romance. I have found each book I’ve read by her to be well-written and compelling. I love the strength of her heroines and how flawed each of her characters is, they all feel completely unique while still having the same ribbons of strength running through them.
