Worthy to Escape: Why All Believers Will Not Be Raptured Before the Tribulation Hardcover – November 5, 2012
Purchase options and add-ons
In their captivating account, the authors take their readers on a fascinating journey through the pages of the Bible, showing how biblical prophecies from Daniel to Revelation point toward not just one but two raptures: a conditional first fruits rapture for the ready "wise virgins" of the church, and a later rapture for "foolish virgin" believers who are spiritually unprepared.
Based on rigorous biblical exegesis and established conservative scholarship, the authors systematically examine inconsistencies within the pretribulational rapture doctrine. They point out how these contradictions can be resolved through a two-fold rapture, which draws on insights from the increasingly popular pre-wrath rapture position. Packed with fresh scriptural insights, this book will prepare and equip you for the times ahead!

The authors interpret passages from Old and New Testaments, with special emphasis on the book of Revelation. Their approach IS thorough and consistent.
I found some sections fascinating, such as the identity of the Antichrist (two of them: one ancient, one modern), and economic chaos associated with this. Another was fitting Hitler into the Bible interpretation. A small example of the drama in words: “The Antichrist will end up having to destroy Catholicism because it will not bow to his demands.” Another is identifying New York city as Babylon: “The destruction of New York will rob the world of all it wanted and craved for.”
One of the scary issues is the tribulation, and whether Christians will be able to avoid this nasty period. The authors say it depends, and seemingly divide us into good and mediocre Christians. My reading is that the mediocre Christians have one foot too deep into the world and its attractions and temptations. They have been “saved” but just haven’t come up to the mark, and so will have to go through the tribulation.
Another part I found interesting was that during the millennium period of 1,000 years, a precursor to eternity, the good Christians who have been raptured would actually rule with Christ over the earth.
The book urges Christians to remain faithful to God and to behave properly and so produce spiritual fruit. While the balance between faith (one’s theological relationship with God) and good works in the world has always led to debate amongst Christian denominations, the authors do rate faith (being spiritual) as pre-eminent over doing good works, which is consistent with their conservative position. Perhaps this is just my background, but I would have appreciated alternative words to “bearing fruit”, such as more emphasis on scenarios like the good Samaritan story that Jesus told. I generally think Christians don’t spread the good news by good works nearly enough. To be fair, the authors do address the need for works (“works is the necessary evidence for true salvation”).
The book is not a light read, snuggled up in front of the fire on a winter’s evening. But I can see it being used in a book study group over several weeks. I read it over a few months, trying to absorb one chapter at a time. It was worthwhile, as I learnt a lot and found many nuggets of information that were mentally enlightening and spiritually encouraging. I would add that the book is a goldmine for serious students of revelation and end-times.
I give the book 5* for those who are students of this subject, and 3* for persons like me who are acquainted with the subject but have no deep knowledge. So my overall rating is 4*.
It confirms what the word actually says.
Thanks for writing this book. It’s one I read and read again.
1. Enoch
2. Elijah
3. Jesus
4. Phillip (sideways rapture hundreds of miles away).
5. Pre-Trib Rapture (Pray always that you will escape all these things...Jesus said this).
6. 144,000 Male Jews (which the authors confuse with 144,000 "Super Christians" and also another 144,000 mail virgin Jews (which is correct interpretation).
7. Two Witnesses (Come up Here)
8. At Jesus Return, all living Tribulation Saints raptured to Jerusalem for rebuild and life around Jesus.
9. Reverse rapture of anti-christ and false prophet into the lake of fire.
The author does try really hard to weave a tale of a short, small group of believers (144,000) that would be raptured...but that is not scripture unless you weave a tall tale and mix passages. "A" for effort on authors part.
Finally, God's examples...God always has an "Ark of Safety" for the righteous. What did Abraham say to the Lord in Genesis 18: 23-25
"23Abraham stepped forward and said, “Will You really sweep away the righteous with the wicked? 24What if there are fifty righteous ones in the city? Will You really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous ones who are there? 25Far be it from You to do such a thing—to kill the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous and the wicked are treated alike. Far be it from You! Will not the Judge of all the earth do what is right?”
Would God judge the righteous with the wicked? Surely God would not do such an evil thing?
God would not...it is against His character when God punishes man to punish both together. Instead, God only punishes the wicked by themselves. Conversely, persecution from the devil and mankind God allows to happen to purify Christians in their faith.
However, when God punishes...the righteous are in a "ark of safety", whether Enoch or an ship on the water above the death.
Don't forget Lot, the angel said, "hurry cause we cannot do ANYTHING till you have been removed."
The parable of the 10 virgins' which the authors uses alot show that 50% of the church is left behind due to being carnal or a better interpretation means that since Jesus said, I never knew you...they were the Ecclesiastical churches that have not a relationship with him...that would foremost be most Catholics, Luthern, Espicapols, Methodist, some Baptist and whatever marginalize the Gospel and are not "born again" as Christ demands us to be. The author forgets there is not a first fruits in 144,000 people raptured, but 50% of the Church are raptured and God says sealed in Him.
Only God knows the amount of born again beleivers will be raptured but 50% of the church will be left behind and the other 50% enter Heaven.
I don't read another rapture ANYWHERE in the Bible for carnal Christians.
Do you think that these authors only have this new teaching and the main Christian churches who view the Pre-Trib Rapture as wrong?
No, God shows us that even Tim Lahayes books on "Left Behind" are the correct interpretation and ALL The early church fathers from 1st to 3rd Century said same thing.
I doubt that God gave these authors a new teaching that has never entered the heart of man from Jesus to now. I am sure they mean well and they are very smart and well versed but the summation of the book is they are wrong according to scripture and God's example throughout the Bible when He judges the wicked, the righteous are removed.
