To begin with, I purchased this with my own money. Secondly, I wound up returning it but that is NOT at all a criticism of this fine product. The problem is that I live in an apartment with a patio that's about 12'x20'. It has two trees that relentlessly drop leaves and I was tired of sweeping them up. I thought this blower might do the trick.
Boy, did it.
This blower is powerful and, as it turned out, too powerful for my needs. That's due to the confined space I have to contend with. However, I have owned my own homes in the past and know what it's like to have to clear a front and back lawn along with a driveway. Given that, I am confident in saying that this blower could easily handle any job around the house. The only restriction, of course, is the length of your extension cord. If you have a 100' extension, then you're good to go.
This blower is powerful, don't know if I mentioned that. It is a two speed blower with a low speed of 130 MPH and a hi speed of 160 MPH. At both speeds it moves 130 cfm (cubic feet per minute) of air. I switched it to high speed on two occasions. The first was to see what it was like and the second was by mistake. The high speed is much more powerful than the low speed, which is powerful. As a result, I only used the low speed.
As you can see from the pictures, it has a shielded male receptacle for power. You simply plug the female end of your extension cord to it and you're all set. Just inside the handle at the base there is a hook that you can attach your power cord to. The handle itself has a hole at the base through which you loop your extension cord, set it on the hook, and plug it in. All of these are visible in the pictures although the picture from the rear of the blower makes it difficult to see the hole for the power cord but it is there. It's about 1.25" x 1".
Did I mention this blower is powerful? This is really surprising because of its size. The impeller (the fan) is only about 6 inches in diameter and the intake is 3 inches in diameter. You can see for yourself in the pictures. It won't tire you out because the impeller rotates on a horizontal axis rather than vertical. This means it rotates perpendicular to your arm and doesn't produce any torque that requires balancing or would tire you out. This arrangement appears to be typical of electric blowers. Still, it's nice.
The extension tube is in two pieces. The one with the orange lock goes on first and it is keyed so it can only be attached one way, meaning you can't mess it up. The blower can easily be used with only this extension - or no extension for that matter - without problem. The second part of the extension tube is more of a nozzle that concentrates an already powerful flow of air. While this one is not keyed it also can only be secured one way as it has a hole which pops over a button on the first section.
After use, the entire thing is a snap to disassemble and store back in its own box. It only weighs a bit over four pounds so it won't drain you. It is both a snap and a joy to use. If I had to clean up a yard or driveway with this blower, I'd actually look forward to it. As you may have guessed by now, I have no problem recommending this blower. You can't go wrong with it.
