Well, I must have been living under a rock, because I had never heard of the Rave-Ups when I was introduced to Jimmer's music a few months ago on Sirius. I just fell in love with She Has Good Records, and then Molotov Moon and pretty soon I ventured out to find out if he had this album out. I do not know the back story, his history either, so I became a fan being none the wiser. Therefore, do not feel bad if you consider this purchase without ever having heard of Jimmer.

The album (CD for me) is simply fantastic, beginning to end. I was not disappointed one bit by any track on the CD. The band, the music, the recording all do justice to Jimmer and should help build a new fan base if this is his re-entry into the spotlight. The CD is a lot of fun, a genre suitable for most audiences out there, and only one play through and you're hooked. What a pleasant surprise!

really glad I heard that this exists - big fan of the Rave-ups. Pretty amazing this guy hasn't released any music in 23 years and then pulls this out. If you loved the Rave-ups, definitely must buy. If you love great songwriting - dylanesque lyrics, neil youngesque guitars, harmonica, jangling guitars - Americana - ah just get it.

Was watching Pretty in Pink and remembered I used to have a couple of The Rave-Ups albums. Went online to find them and came across this nice little new gem by Jimmer Podrasky.

OK. I was a gigantic fan of The Rave Ups back in ze day. Chance, was an amazing album/cd/whatever we called them then. Then, Jimmer disappeared. Finally, he's back, and he's (a) older and more worldly, (b) still sarcastic but not hatefully so, and (c) able to put together really good music. I think the music is clever. It sounds great in my car. It sounds great played on my computer speakers. It's genuine and witty, and will likely be loved by anyone who listened to The Rave Ups.
