About the Author
Texan to the bone and an unrepentant Daddy's Girl, BA spends her days with her basset hounds, getting tattooed, texting her sisters, and eating Mexican food. When she's not doing that, she's writing. She spends her days off watching rodeo, knitting and surfing Pinterest in the name of research. BA's personal saviors include her wife, Julia, her best friend, Sean, and coffee. Lots of good coffee.

I really liked this book. I loved both of the MCs, Luke and Rory. I thought they had good chemistry between them. I also loved most of the secondary characters in this book. I especially liked Lori, Rory's assistant.
I would say the events in Rory's past should probably come with a trigger warning. However, most of it happens off page and is not described in depth.
I highly recommend this book to BA Tortuga fans. Hopefully, she will continue with this series. I am especially looking forward to Matt's(Luke's twin brother) story.
Rory is a hot shot real estate lawyer that is buying up as much land in and around town. His motives are suspicious. Matt and Luke don't know what to think but no, they aren't selling. There's a nice pace between Luke and Rory, their relationship, family, friends, and goals. Food plays a big part and for some reason those meal prep scenes just work. Now. No one else has mentioned: Preacher is Matt and Luke's father. He is a bull rider. Is he one of the bull riders from the Roughstock Series? It sounds like it. My second thought - Why didn't any of these 4 sons go into bull riding? They were raised around the rodeo and obviously bull riding. I wonder if Matt's guy is someone from the rodeo.
Anyway, this is a nice paced feel good story with suspense thrown in. Unfortunately the follow up on Harris wasn't enough. Court testimony was mentioned and jail time but nothing definite. Was the guy even caught? Now while I love Texas twang and all the idioms, this 'tickled' comment grated after hearing it in Tortuga's other books. Not all Texans talk the same or think the same. For so many to be tickled about things isn't typical. - Dan's Wife
I adored Rory and Luke as well as Matt, Luke’s twin, and the rest of the cast of characters.
A tumultuous start to their relationship, Rory and Luke soon found a kinship in their kindred souls and forged through with their heads held high, albeit the baggage both men carried.
Rory, psychologically scarred from a physical attack, and Luke, a physically damaged war veteran, together the men casted aside their weaknesses for a stronger bond that allowed them to grow as a couple and begin a venture to help other war veterans.
I have always been fond of Ms. Tortuga’s work, giving her books high praise, but The Wounded Warrior may be her best work to date.
The realization through Ms. Tortuga’s words gave authenticity to the underlying story, centering on the horrors which can be thrown in life and the ever-present spirit to move forward. The fine line between giving up in the face of adversity and striving for the best can be tenuous, and Ms. Tortuga allowed both her characters to achieve their goals with dignity and respect, sometimes with a much-needed push, sometimes with a kind word.
The Wounded Warrior is a must read and well-deserving of praise. Thank you, Ms. Tortuga, for showing our military finest in the best possible light, while staying true to their everyday struggles.
