Erin Daniels rated it 5 stars, "it was amazing"
Read 2 times
"Wounds Into Wisdom left me emotionally spent in the best possible way. This was a moving yet beautiful portrayal of a young woman who is carving out her own path in a world that is determined to give her a one-two punch every chance it gets. But the story isn't a melodramatic put me in coach type of feel-good tale. It is a narrative so tightly woven that each minute funnels you into the next one and before you know you may or may not have burned the baked potatoes. I'll admit to nothing...
Every progression of events and emotions is written with such simple precision that there is no suspension of belief - something I am vigilant about as an avid reader. The result is total engagement which is the only way to ensure that the characters' emotions are a payoff for the reader. It was also pretty cool to read a story set in another decade. It was familiar enough to be comfortable but different enough to be refreshing.
Without question I will be checking for other books by this author and I've got my fingers crossed that lightning will strike twice!"
-"Perfect books for horse lovers, particularly those interested in women breaking into horse racing in the late 1960s!"

-"Great mixture of horse racing and romance as the author deals with real life issues women sometimes go through."
-Reviewers often mention the author's detailed knowledge of horse racing and a writing style that keeps you hooked.
-These books have been called, "hard to put down" and "page turners."
-They're geared toward young women, but male reviewers have also enjoyed them, even though they wouldn't normally read stories like this. The fast pace keeps them drawn in.

From the Author

As a relatively new author, I realize I need time to develop a following. My review numbers may be small, but my books are well-written, well-edited, and well-loved. My books are entertaining and I think you'll enjoy reading them even if you're not into horse racing. I try to incorporate real world issues, especially women's issues, into my books. As someone who has survived a lot in life, I have some experience to work with and not only is it healing for me to write, it's healing for those who read the stories, at least from what I hear. To develop a larger following, all I need is a little help from my fans. Word of mouth is the best advertising.

I started Chivalry with the intent of writing a romance novel, but I needed to add the struggle for women in 1969 to break into horse racing. The result of adding that plot line (not one you'd find in your average romance novel) landed it in the "historical fiction" category. Since then, I decided to stay there and include some romance in the stories. I wanted more for my books than the usual romance plot, and I think I've established that.
I have a small fan group now, but they are loyal and anxious to read whatever comes next in the series. I'm working feverishly to get the other books out as soon as I can for them! I'll be selling the set as a boxed set once I get to three, and then I'll add the fourth, and so forth.

Here's the sequence -
Book one: "Chivalry" - for sale on Amazon
Book two: "Wounds into Wisdom" - for sale on Amazon
Book three: "Turn of the Tide" - a continuation of Candy's saga. Will she ever get a break? I related to Candy on many ways and the author's voice in "Wounds" and "Tide" is hers and mine at the same time. It was very easy to write about Candy since so much of her personality comes from mine. Big difference: She's a morning person and I am SO not.
Book four: "How (not) to Grieve" - a prequel to Chivalry, the story of Julia, Rachel's mother, and how she became a trainer as a single mom in the 50s and 60s. This one is gut wrenching at times, so bring the kleenex. But, it's not all sad - you'll also laugh. It has a paranormal twist as well. You'll see...it's good. I can't wait to share it!
Book Five: "Clear Blue Sky" - Peggy, a friend of Rachel's from "Chivalry," is back and working at Belmont as a groom for her father. She has to share the track with Erick, her ex-boyfriend, and Rachel, her ex-friend who is now married to Erick. Drama!
Book Six: "Prophetic" - Don's story. Where has he been all this time? Don is Candy's brother. I have good news and bad news. ;)
Book Seven: Billy needs a book too and I'm still trying to come up with something for him. I'm thinking a little growing up and finding love would be nice.
