I have read other reviews saying to be careful about burning the device; I can understand that, as it does get fairly hot in the microwave. Plus, it requires a little different method to cook. I found that, after six minutes in the microwave, the slices of bacon weren't quite as crisp as we wanted, but after leaving them to sit in the cup for a couple of minutes while doing other things in the kitchen, they crisped-up well. I believe the delay is due to the enclosed nature of the device holding more moisture inside. Let the bacon air out for a minute after cooking and it seems to be just right.
The only thing is that the plastic melted and basically after nearly 6 months we ended up with a broken Bacon Cooker. In fact the Bacon cooker gradually broke down. First our cover broke (after 4 months) and then today unfortunately we got a small plastic hole in the bottom of the bacon cooker.
Funnily I still would like to buy the product. However I hesitate since I know the plastic has such a poor quality. I would have easily paid a premium price for the product (around 50 USD) if it had much higher quality plastic.
ORIGINAL REVIEW - I love bacon, but before I got this product I didn't cook it that often because frying it in a skillet made a greasy mess of my cook top and I didn't like the smell sticking around the house for hours. The same was true when I used the Nordic Ware Microwave Bacon Tray & Food Defroster I've had for years. Don't get me wrong, I love the smell of bacon cooking, but not the "tenacious as a visiting in-law" lingering heavy, greasy smell.
But not anymore, with this bacon cooker there's no lingering odor and no messy cook top or microwave to clean. Drain the fat, pop it in the dishwasher and clean up is complete. Bravo!Read more ›

Best bacon cooker EVER! Forget the complaints about the bottom blowing out or melting. If I hold mine to the light, I can see that the bottom has been reinforced somehow. Read morePublished 3 months ago by Robert W. Schmidt
Works good, but the bacon does not cook evenly - gets done / dried out at the top first, still limp at the bottom. Hard to keep the bacon pieces from sticking to each other. Read morePublished 5 months ago by Fish&Flowers
Great idea to eliminate grease splatter but after we used it 3 times, a small hole formed at the bottom. Seems to be where inside cross section meets inside of container. Read morePublished 6 months ago by Teamavery
