How It Works
THE R.E.V App
Take control of the power of R.E.V. with the free R.E.V. App.
Download the App to your device and link it with a R.E.V. vehicle to play and compete in real-world battles and challenges.
Linking your device with a R.E.V. vehicle is easy! No codes, no passwords – just open the R.E.V. App and hold your device above the R.E.V. you want to control. The only thing faster is R.E.V. itself.
When controlled by its Artificial Intelligence (A.I.), R.E.V. thinks for itself, driving and fighting to win.
R.E.V. vehicles know where they are in relation to each other. BeaconSense Technology enables R.E.V.s to track each other from up to 5 meters away.
Real Time Tracking & Planning
R.E.V. tracks the status and location of other R.E.V. vehicles in real time, so its Artificial Intelligence continuously adjusts its tactics. When damaged, it’ll flee until it can heal. When you’re damaged, it’ll zero in for the kill.
Simulated Damage Vehicle Physics
R.E.V. vehicles mimic real-world physics. If a vehicle takes a hit, it will react and handle as if the impact was real. If hit from behind, it’ll lunge forward. If hit from the side, it’ll veer off course. Vehicular combat has never felt more real.

You will need 8 x AA batteries to make these work...4 each....luckily we have our eneloop AA rechargeable batteries.
Once the cars are paired to the phone via bluetooth you can start the action almost immediately...drive them around and engage in battle. The cars when being hit by another weapon blink a red light and damage is kept track of.. If there is only one player then the 2nd vehicle can be put into AI (artificial intelligence) mode and fought with as if you were playing a computer. The one thing to note here is that the controls are a bit sensitive...but once you get the hang of them they are easy to control They work well on hardwood floors and even on carpeting for great indoor fun...naturally they will work on driveways and or in garages as well....
We have been playing with ours for about 3-4 hours since we got them and the batteries are still doing perfectly fine...our phones have been having some extra draw on power due to bluetooth...but that is expected.
Awesome product and idea...highly recommended. PS. I am 45 yrs of age and playing this with my 13.5yr old son....awesome time thus far.
Previously, the app did not work with my phone: Samsung Galaxy Note 4 on Verizon. Without the app, the cars are inoperable. Yesterday, WowWee updated their app and everything works now.
I've only played with it for an hour and I am terrible at the controls. They're very sensitive, and I seem to lack the finesse to operate well. Without the resistance and tactile feel of sticks, it's hard to gauge. I usually end up going full throttle and spinning in donuts, which is not a good evasion tactic. This has not diminished my enjoyment at all. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it with practice. You may be good right away.
The AI mode is scary good, and more than a little creepy to see an RC car moving on its own. They end up crashing into one another a lot. Thank goodness these are built so well. They make a satisfying thunk when they hit, as if they were solid plastic.
Overall, this is a phenomenal toy for older kids and kidults. I am so pleased with these cars!
Downloading the app onto our Android phones (both running Lollipop) was a breeze, and pairing the cars via bluetooth was smooth and hitch-free. The app has a nice hi-tech sci-fi styled interface and is fairly simple to navigate. The control scheme can be set to dual or single toggle control. The dual mode, which we prefer, uses one finger to power forward & reverse, and the other finger to steer. The single mode simply uses one finger to both thrust and steer, but we found it to be harder to manage. The controls are very responsive. They are so responsive that, when coupled with the zippy speed of the cars, it is a bit tough to control the car. As with most things, practice makes perfect so stick with it and you'll get better.
The battle modes are fun, allowing drivers to shoot their opponent and inflict damage. Two human drivers can duke it out, or one real driver can take on the 2nd car in AI mode. There are a variety of weapons that inflict unique damage and the cars are quite customizable, but there is also much fun to be had in simply racing. My kids have spent most of their time with REV setting up race courses using furniture, obstacles, etc to design courses and then race for first place. These are awesome as straight-forward R/C cars.
The construction is solid. The cars are sturdy and durable and have considerable heft. Expect lots of crashes and enjoy them - these things are built to endure.
Overall we love 'em. The app is effective and easy to use, the cars handle well, the battle aspects add versatility and longevity to the entertainment value of the set, the cars are a blast even just for driving, and everything works flawlessly. Highly recommended!
We did do one more test. We had a family member with an iOS phone come over, install the app, and give the cars a try. The cars worked great with the iOS app. We have no plans to move away from android. A great product but isn't living up to expectations on android yet.

White car never worked. Black car was fun but one kid wasn't happy watching her brother play. Can't confirm that the app crashes with android because we used an iPhone and iPad.Published 15 days ago by JMRIG
