Six months later I have had no problems with them and I've ordered another 11 guns for parents who saw them on the 4th and want them for Christmas.
These are much more fun at night but they worked fine in the day. With each gun You can choose between 4 different teams, unlimited players. You can change your laser blasts from five different kinds which adds a little strategy. You can also activate a shield that takes time to recharge.
There's 3 different style/colors, red yellow and orange. They're priced differently but all have the same features, just different voice effects. Red=Alien
Kids from 4-30yrs old have had a 'blast' with them all summer. Highly recommend.
The only buttons on the Strikers are the on/off switch and the ammo reload . Everything else is done by touch. In the light this is easy; in the dark not so much. Luckily when you touch a zone the computer tells you what you have chosen so you can make adjustments. Each Striker has a headphone port so that the opposition cannot hear the Striker.
They , obviously, are not accurate in bright light. The Strikers use IR signals to communicate.
I hope this product is durable; unfortunately the red Striker did not function when it arrived and I am awaiting its replacement.
I will update to let you know how it fairs.
As soon as I read about these guns having built-in sensors (so you don't have to wear the vest, etc) I was sold on them. I really wanted to do the laser tag thing for my son but the old style laser guns have to have darkness, and vests, and as I recall they just aren't that great. But these guns have a sensor built-in, so you don't have to have all the rest. If you shoot at someone, you hit their gun and the gun beeps or whatever to let them know they've been hit. After a certain number of hits, the gun shuts off to let the person know they've "died". You can just turn it right back on though so it's not a total buzzkill.
Two of the guns I got are "fancy" with touch-pads all along the gun. The third gun does not have the touch sensors but just has switches on the top to activate the shield, to change teams, etc. This system is just really so cool, I want to buy guns for my son's friends so he can play with them too. His little sisters just aren't much fun, ya know. They are easy to use, no more hard "cocking" the gun like you have with the Nerf guns (too hard in most cases even for my 7 yr old to do alone). No more bullets to hunt down and re-load like with Nerf guns. And these guns work in daylight, in the house with all the lights on. They seem to work pretty well. They also come with targets in case you can't get anyone to play with you. But playing with others is way more fun.
