There's an old saying, amor vincit omnia. Well, love certainly made a surprising way forward in this book. I was hooked on the caring, compassion, and strength in the main characters, both of whom were damaged enough to earn my trust in their desire to help others. They had fought hard to get where they were, and I wanted their love story to work. The story did not disappoint! I love the way that the characters' predicament - the heroine is a ghost! - becomes a strength as they work together not only to solve her murder, but to resolve injustices that come up in the course of the investigation. I like that the psychology holds true, even if the plot relies on paranormal elements. There are some great lines in this book that I don't want to spoil by lifting them out of context, but look for one near the end about beauty. You'll know the one when you read it. It made me gasp at the clarity of insight.
If you like a good love story, a lot of justice against bad guys, and surprising paranormal twists, you'll love this book.
I started Wraith's Heart last night and quietly finished it at work today ;). I literally could not put this wonderful book down! The story of Gail and Ryan sucked me in. I wanted so badly to know how a ghost and a Police Officer could make love work that I had to refrain myself from skipping ahead to the end to find out what happened. This book wasn't just a wonderfully unique love story, it was so much more. It had mystery. Paranormal elements. Parts that made me laugh, swoon, angry and of course cry. I fell so in love with the characters... I would love to have a second book about Ryan and Gail (hint, hint, wink, wink). I wish I could add more without giving anything away, but really this book will speak for itself when you read it.
I will be adding Ms. Steele to my favorite authors list and will soon start reading the rest of her works. She knows what she is doing! Buy this book, you won't be disappointed :).

Not usually into paranormal, but this caught my attention and kept it. Buried my nose into the book, and forgot to eat dinner.
Great job, Donna.
