I truly didn't know what to expect from this book. You could call it a procedural with a "paranormal bouquet" but that would undersell the tale. It has aspects of a thriller, more than one supernatural angle, humor, and a "hot" romance to boot. It kept me guessing what would come next in the best possible way. I loved that I couldn't predict how it would turn out. "Wraith's Heart" made my heart ache but it also gladdened it. I was sad that the story ended - I would love to see more of these characters!

I usually read mysteries and contemporary fiction, with just a sprinkling of romance. I bought this book out of curiosity, because I wanted to know how a ghost managed to have *relations* with a living person. (I won't say how, but I will say it works!) I didn't expect to enter upon a love story replete with justice, redemption, healing, and twisty sci-fi worth of the X-files (the good years - my fellow sci-fi nerds will know what I mean).

There's an old saying, amor vincit omnia. Well, love certainly made a surprising way forward in this book. I was hooked on the caring, compassion, and strength in the main characters, both of whom were damaged enough to earn my trust in their desire to help others. They had fought hard to get where they were, and I wanted their love story to work. The story did not disappoint! I love the way that the characters' predicament - the heroine is a ghost! - becomes a strength as they work together not only to solve her murder, but to resolve injustices that come up in the course of the investigation. I like that the psychology holds true, even if the plot relies on paranormal elements. There are some great lines in this book that I don't want to spoil by lifting them out of context, but look for one near the end about beauty. You'll know the one when you read it. It made me gasp at the clarity of insight.

If you like a good love story, a lot of justice against bad guys, and surprising paranormal twists, you'll love this book.

It's not often I find a well-written and enjoyable book among the freebies and/or cheapies! "Wraith's Heart" hit all the sweet spots with a good story line, well-crafted writing and primary characters a reader can (and did) fall in love with! Gail & Ryan dealt with the bizarre circumstances very well, adapting and growing as needed. I have only one complaint--an epilogue tying off the loose ends would have been terrific....although, I'll just write the epilogue in my own mind! Highly recommended!

I loved how the author combined the three genres: the love story, the paranormal story and the detective story. The author scores on each story layer by introducing us to characters we become invested in, and brings us at last to a happy ending that didn't seem reachable when we meet the two main characters.

Thoroughly enjoyable!

I was extremely lucky to be a winner of a contest where I got to pick out one of Ms. Steele's books. I took at look at her books and Wraith's Heart called to me. The synopsis intrigued me and the reviews reeled me in. I pushed Wraith's Heart up to the very top of my extremely long TBR and I am so very happy I did!

I started Wraith's Heart last night and quietly finished it at work today ;). I literally could not put this wonderful book down! The story of Gail and Ryan sucked me in. I wanted so badly to know how a ghost and a Police Officer could make love work that I had to refrain myself from skipping ahead to the end to find out what happened. This book wasn't just a wonderfully unique love story, it was so much more. It had mystery. Paranormal elements. Parts that made me laugh, swoon, angry and of course cry. I fell so in love with the characters... I would love to have a second book about Ryan and Gail (hint, hint, wink, wink). I wish I could add more without giving anything away, but really this book will speak for itself when you read it.

I will be adding Ms. Steele to my favorite authors list and will soon start reading the rest of her works. She knows what she is doing! Buy this book, you won't be disappointed :).

Donna Steele's new work is right on the mark for providing stiff competition to Heather Graham and the paranormal romance genre. Her story line holds your interest all the way to the end and then WOW!

I loved this book. It had all the aspects I like in a novel-intrigue, romance, humor, strong men, strong women, it had them all. It's all woven together beautifully with just enough 'paranormal' to be realistic to me without being really out there. I'm putting this book on my favorites list.
