IMO- All of the dialogue, and the events that take place within this story all seem quite real. Either this author knows someone personally who's gone through this, or she did one heck of a job doing fact checks. Because these things are still a very real thing, even in today's world.
I loved the way Noah was so dedicated, and so patient with Dair. She was not only going through a tough time trying to accept the fact that she wasn't whole anymore, but she was also dealing with residual effects of having an abusive father. That's a lot to go through, for anyone. I thought everything about this book was great.....except for the way it ended. Sure, they had sort of a HEA, if you want to call it that, but I wanted to see them tie the knot. Oh well, maybe we'll get to see them do that in the next book.
Dair, cam out from Afghanistan, when a black ops mission goes south. Dair was a WMD dog handler and Zeus was her partner. Zeus failed to detect an IED, which vaporized Zeus and left Dair one leg short.
She returns to Wind River in Wyoming, where she came from. She met up with Shay and Reese Lockhart from the Bar C, becomes a wrangled and for the first time, truly happy.
A happy ending is guaranteed for the vets. Highly recommend!!
Love how they don't shy away from there PTSD and physical challenges. But they don't back down and don't give up. They fight together like the military trained them to do. There is a bond in the military you will never understand.
