I read the reviews and was a bit worried about the spill that most spoke about. I opened the box and was pleased by the amount of packaging involved. However, I could smell the smoke. Uh oh. I carefully unwrapped the bottles. Only one leaked a tiny bit on the bubble wrap - the mesquite. Keep in mind the picture was up close to get an idea of how much. The actual area - well I could sit one of these bottles upright and cover it all easily. The paper towel picture is the amount I wiped off the mesquite botttle. It is a paper towel I got from Taco Bell for reference. So the amount I lost was very tiny. I also included a picture of the top of the mesquite bottle so you can see it is sealed.So, the leaking doesn't seem to be due to Amazon packaging. It does seem Wrights has taking what I would consider normal procedures on preventing leaking. All 3 bottles were on their sides and outside was freezing rain. I did check to see if the lids were on tight or could they be moved underneath the safety seal. Well, only the mesquite was not on as tightly as the other 2. So, I guess that resolves that. It was just loose enough to leak a little.I haven't tried cooking with them yet. However, I can say the smell from that tiny bit of leakage - it brought back many childhood memories of cookouts and smokers using mesquite. I was tempted to smell my clothes because that smoke lingered. So,I am going to say I am going to be super pleased by these bottles when I cook with them. The smell lingers even after being exposed to open air. It's not overpowering, but it is there. I'll try to post more when I use them.
