Went in open minded and was blown away
I rely heavily on reviews here so thought I’d share. I’m more of a book reader, so I’m new to reading comics, and what I mean by that is that I’m used to extensive words and details to explain a scene; used to slow buildups. However, I was blown away by the art work and the story they created in just one issue. I loved how from the start they incorporated diversity and touched on topics we often see ignored. It goes into action pretty quick so I felt like I was constantly wanting to know what was coming next (in the best way) as I was flipping through the pages and the ending had me in legit jaw drop. Some lines are pretty funny too tbh lol. I was so surprised and I can’t wait for the next issues to see how the story develops! Will def be ordering some more copies to gift my brothers!

LOVED the artwork. Olivetti is brilliant. I’m in my late thirties and this felt like a story I would’ve seen growing up. Can’t wait for the next issue!

The Writer — a debut by Josh Gad and the Berkowitz Brothers — is a rollicking ride through thousands of years of Jewish folklore, combined with the cinematic twists of a marvel superhero movie. Combining the best parts of Indiana Jones and Back to the Future with an ingenious superhero origin, this is a collectors item from issue one!

The designs are gorgeous and the storytelling is refreshing and unique! Despite the dark turn Stan’s life takes, there are a lot of heartfelt conversations and themes that resonated with our current times. Loved getting to know this new type of hero! Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Loving this! Really excited to see what happens next. The Jewish folklore and Boston setting is exciting for me. Even the deli reminds me of a deli in Brookline
