Fantastic book with prompt delivery - however some damaged pages
This book is a huge reference with great information & wonderful articles. I don’t buy every year but it is worth buying newer editions ever so often. very happy to have received the 100th edition version. The delivery was must faster than I expected and the package was delivered with care. However, the first few pages were wrinkled and damaged with one page completely separated from it’s binding which is disappointing a book that’s listed as a new product. I would expect this kind of wear on a used book. It’s as if someone in the warehouse dropped it prior to packaging.Otherwise I have no complaints and I highly recommend. Likely a one off issue.

As usual this edition has some very useful articles in the front; I found some information in the articles important enough to make notes, and the query letter examples were priceless. However, that said, this is a very generally, lengthy guide for both freelance non-fiction work, all the way through fiction. The literary agents section does not list all of the agents available (there is a separate guide for that with 600 agents listed). I am a fiction writer and found this book of somewhat limited scope for fiction writing. This book does have a comprehensive list of publishers, but most fiction writers will want to start with going through an agent. I will likely shell out a few more books for the literary agent's division of this book, or shell out the cash for the online version of Writer's Market.

One of the main reasons I purchased the book was for its industry insights such as pricing comparisons and guides. I find those quite helpful.

It also has a ton of resources on contact information, though you have to be careful as these can change after the publication of the edition.

As a professional copywriter I use this reference on a regular basis. It contains many listings that is a great start in finding clients to market to. However some listings may be out of date and should be verified. People move around and you’ll need to make sure who the current contact might be. There’s also many outstanding articles contained inside that can be used to focus on your writing career.

I usually don't purchase books of this type, as I was convinced that self-publishing was the only way to go, at one point. I have learned that traditional publishing is still the best option for most writers trying to establish themselves. This book has nearly everything a writer needs in order to find an agent, genre publishing company, non-fiction publishers, magazines, anthologies, etc. It's worth it for those who are seriously considering a life of writing, and not a life of marketing, and self-promotion. This will help me start the journey.

as a new writer, this book is essential - it is more than a list of publications in the US and it marks those from Canada with a maple leaf. The glossary, samples, guides are fabulous

Looking for a publisher or literary agent? This is the book you need.
It doesn’t list every agency but it seems to come darn close.
