Editorial Reviews

A prolific screenwriter, producer and director, BARRY LEVINSON has received three Oscar nominations for ...And Justice for All (with co-writer Valerie Curtin), Diner and Avalon. He collected a Best Director Oscar for Rain Man, in 1988. He has also earned three Writers Guild Awards.
Levinson's numerous other screenwriting credits, solo and with co-writers, include Jimmy Hollywood, Toys, Unfaithfully Yours, Best Friends and Inside Moves.
Levinson has used his hometown Baltimore, Maryland, as the setting for four widely praised features: Diner, the semi-autobiographical comedy/drama that marked his directorial debut; Tin Men, involving warring salesmen; Avalon, in which his native city takes center stage through the recollections of an immigrant family; and Liberty Heights, a humorous and touching drama that addresses issues of race, class, religion and social change in the Baltimore of 1954.
