"Congratulations on your delightful book on book writing. Valuable and very nicely done."
Dan Poynter / Author: The Self-Publishing Manual - 16th Edition
"Finally, a book that tells writers how to create a nonfiction book that gets results. It takes you step-by-creative step through an otherwise circuitous process; resulting in a book you will be proud to call your own."
Brian Jud / Author of How to Make Real Money Selling Books and Beyond the Bookstore
"As an author with several books under my belt from big publishing houses, I opened Rik Feeney's latest work with no small amount of skepticism. What could I possibly learn? And then I read it all the way to the end in one sitting. The book business is in a state of almost daily upheaval, and Rik Feeney has taken lessons from the past, melded them with contemporary market realities, and applied all of that to what we might expect in the future. In addition to being a masterful communicator who writes with great clarity and abiding good humor, Feeney arms writers with all the weapons they need for success, from methodology and nuts 'n bolts writing tools, to savvy wisdom about marketing. It's clear that Feeney had lots of fun writing this book. Here's hoping it brings fame and fortune to him and everyone who reads it."
Bob Morris / Author of Deadly Silver Sea, Baja Florida

Carol O'Dell / Author of Mothering Mother: A Daughter's Humorous and Heartbreaking Memoir
"If you're even thinking about writing a book, the simple advice and methodologies in this book will help you get started, then get it done. Need some motivation and guidance? Here it is."
Jim Kukral / Author Internet Marketing for Business Answers - Small Business Expert Interviews
"Feeney's experience as a prolific writer and book coach provide plenty of entertaining anecdotes to illustrate his easy-to-follow plan that shows anyone, from novice writer to professional, how to go from concept to published book in a matter of weeks. No excuses. If you've ever wanted to be an author, Rik Feeney shows you how."

Although the book has only eight distinct parts, it does include additional supportive material in its 143 pages. Especially helpful are the book's beginning and ending. The beginning section, entitled Writing a Nonfiction Book, provides the writer with thought provoking inspiration designed for those times when a writer has the motivation, but lacks an idea or vice versa. Towards the end of the book, Appendix B gives an overview for publishing options available after the writer has finished the project. The guidelines provided in this section will help the writer investigate which direction for publishing best suits his or her needs.
In addition, the often overlooked, but extremely important subject of editing is included in part six of the book, Editing: Easy Steps to Improve Your Writing. The author points out that "editing is not an exact science," but rather a personal representation of the writer. If the lack of editing leaves a bad first impression on the readers, the writer may not get a second chance to make a better impression. It seems simple, but many writers skip this step as they eagerly seek out agents, publishers or go directly to readers with an unpolished product. It's nice to have a written reminder handy.
The strength of "Writing Books for Fun, Fame, & Fortune!" is that it is a book of "bite-sized," yet informative tips for structuring ideas into a well written book. Of course, the creativity, writing skills, marketing and general hard work needed for a successful product is still up to the individual - but every little bit helps.
I've passed the book along to a "would be" writer to help get him started on a book project. I hope it proves to be helpful and I'm very interested in reading his personal review.

Rik knows writing and marketing like few other's that I've met over the eighteen yeas I've spent in the writing and publishing business. I own some of the top-selling how-to books for personal and professional use,and have to say that Rik has managed to get all the important aspects of those into one compact, clear, fast-reading resource that no writer should be without. This is going to stay on my desk right alongside the Yahoo! and Chicago style guides.
Rarely does fun, motivation and instruction come so neatly put together in one reference book, but that's exactly what Rik Feeney has done with this. Thanks to Rik for writing a valuable tool not only for the novice writer but for us veterans as well.
It has tons of useful information that I can implement without a lot of prep work or any fancy software or hardware requirements for both my non-fiction and fiction work. It's inspired me to get off my duff and actually write instead of just talking about writing or thinking about writing. I've already laid out the cards for two technical pamphlets that I've been kicking around for a few years. Now that I've got my cards on the table, I can pick them up whenever I have ten or fifteen minutes and start writing, not wait until I have a large block of time.
I have a large collection of books on writing, many of which sit on the shelves after the first reading. Rik's book is going to be read and utilized time and time again. Filled with tips, Rik's terrific sense of humor comes through, making this a fun read. I've shared it with fellow writers and my family. My kids are using the techniques for their term papers!

Over the last 30 years I have read many books on this subject. I have known Dan Poynter for over 25 years. So I was skeptical that this book would be new and better. But Rik's style and tone won me over, and I read it in one afternoon, and spent a sleepless night thinking about how good it was, and making plans for my future. In the last month I have referred to is many times.
This book is loaded with ideas, tips, guides, advice, resources, and suggestions, that goes beyond any other book like this.
I believe the real reason this book is so good is because Rik walks the walk, and he is published. He has proven how to do it and understands the process from a true writer's perspective. I just ordered six copies for my partners and business associates.
This book is one of the best investments a person who wants to be a author can make.
