A novelist and a poet performer and their staff, students and guests, gather at a country estate; enter the police and I, for a moment, felt I was in a charming Agatha Christie style cosy mystery all be it with a new bunch of fascinating characters. But wait--throw in cleverly written, dry humour, and the author took me beyond what was Christie's wit to reveal. I enjoyed the insights.
Definitely a good read for those who appreciate satire.
This story goes to show how some people are not happy even when they appear to have everything. There is quite an assortment of characters. It's the worst combination of personalities that Andrew and Mandy had ever seen. But, it leads to a lot of fun and entertainment for the reader. The only piece I felt lacking was that of justice. Although, every now and again, justice is served in other ways. I rated this 4 out of 5.
And what can I say about the extraordinary John Brow and his bizarre ideas about fitness and diet? Can't wait for the next Gert Loveday.
