The musical is a unique film genre with its own quirks and conventions. In this DVD, panelists active in the writing and composing of musicals discuss their work processes and experiences with moderator WINNIE HOLZMAN (My So-Called Life, Once and Again, Wicked).
BILL KELLY wrote the screenplay for the musical fantasy Enchanted, with music and lyrics by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. Bill's prior films include the supernatural thriller Premonition and Blast from the Past. Prior to that, Bill did a stint at Chicago's famed Improv Olympics, studying with Second City legend Del Close.
IRENE MECCHI began her association with Disney in 1992 - Her Disney feature animation writing credits are: The Lion King, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Hercules. She is co-author of Disney Theatrical Productions' Tony Award-wining The Lion King - which currently has eight productions on stages around the world. She adapted Broadway's Annie into an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning television movie musical for ABC, directed by Rob Marshall.
STEPHEN SCHWARTZ contributed music and/or lyrics to Godspell, Pippin, Working (which he also adapted and directed), and the Broadway hit, Wicked, among many others. He collaborated on the songs for Enchanted as well as the features Pocahontas and The Hunchback of Notre Dame and wrote the songs for The Prince Of Egypt. Schwartz is currently the President of the Dramatists' Guild. Awards include three Academy Awards, four Grammys, four Drama Desk Awards, Songwriters Hall of Fame, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and a tiny handful of tennis trophies.
