About Writing for the Soul WorkshopTM
Writing for the Soul Workshop™ is a national mentoring program that invokes a passion for writing, resources for healing, and skills for a lifetime while tackling global problems like mental, financial and educational inequality.
Our core program philosophy is based on the fact that powerful emotions have a powerful voice; and that when we get what's on the inside out, we make amazing breakthroughs in gaining control of those feelings.
Our books are "Cathartic Literature" sometimes referred to as 'misery lit' category which is biographical in nature, and usually about the impact of traumatic events in childhood, and the impact of dealing with those experiences.
We consider our focus "cathartic lit" because our writing program experience tells us that these stories are that of catharsis, or discharge of pent-up emotions so as to result in the alleviation of symptoms or the permanent relief of the condition caused by traumatic experiences.
You could say that my Writing for the Soul Workshop™ program fills the need for books about trauma and abuse with deeper meanings to them. Books that leave the reader feeling inspired. Like the caterpillar whose cathartic change becomes the most beautiful of butterflies, our books will leave you inspired and changed, like the authors that penned them.
My name is Eric Jones, and I am the founder of TGIM Digital Publishing and creater of Writing for the Soul Workshop™. I have successfully completed Texas Department of Criminal Justice Substance Abuse Treatment Program, Texas Department of Criminal Justice Peer Recovery Support Specialist Training, Texas Department of State Health Services Peer Recovery Coach Training and Turning Points Parenting Curriculum by Caring for Kids of The Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center.
TGIM Digital Publishing is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ Rating.

Blog postNever Give Up This night changed my life. I remember it like yesterday. It was a Saturday night around 12 pm when my mom comes home and she’s really drunk. She goes into my sister’s room and then started fighting and screaming. They started hitting each other. Me, I was in my room praying to God that nothing bad happens. When they stopped fighting , my sister comes into my room and she starts crying so I started crying too. She dials 911. I was telling her not to do it, but she didn’t think3 days ago Read more

Blog postMan, I LOVED being outside. What my elders used to say, “Out there in those streets where you ain got no bitness bein.” From nine years old, the earliest recollection I have of my childhood, you couldn’t tell me NOTHIN. Hell yeah, I loved being in the streets where I was jumped at least once a week by the neighborhood boys, mad because I would refuse to have sex with them. Hell yeah I loved the streets, where old men who KNEW I was underaged, offered to take me home. Yeah man, I chose the str1 week ago Read more

Blog postProduct of my Environment Truth be told, I don’t want to say that I’m just like you because we’re all different and unique in our own way. Honestly, some have said that I’m worse than most. They’ve said things like, “Jerel, you’re possessed by demon.” or things like “Death is following you.” In my youth I fused with these destructive thoughts in my mind. I believed that this is what my life was supposed to be like. I have a few memories of a time when I was like you. But that was befor2 weeks ago Read more

Blog postNo Child is Born Bad I was born into a single mother family, just me and my mom. I was always alone. Alone to deal with my traumas by myself with no guidance. Life put me through the ringer very early in life. At the tender age of just four-years-old, I was two feet tall. My feet were 6 inches in full length, my hair short and very blonde. I never grew out of my big brown eyes. I still had a mouth full of baby teeth -chompers that couldn’t cut through steak. I was the kind of child that l2 weeks ago Read more

Blog post“I am dedicated to enlightening adolescents and youth about the consequences that mischief can cause at an early age, and everyday I work hard to deter juveniles from facing the same pitfalls that I experienced as a youth.” -Eric Jones, TGIM CEO and Creator of Writing for the Soul Workshop

Blog postNonprofit organizations impact our lives and our communities. In fact, statistics show that more than 80% of the population will access services provided by a nonprofit organization in their lifetime. Blog postWhen you meet genuinely good people, it’s one of the best feelings in the world. That’s how I felt after meeting Peggy Egan for the first time while having coffee at Starbucks. Our tables were so close together that I couldn’t help listening as she talked passionately about how she’d improve the community once elected to the gentleman sitting across from her. Elected to what? Curiosity got the best of me, and I needed to know.
When Peggy’s meeting ended, I turned and introduced myself7 months ago Read more -
