Written in Ink tells Griffin and Autumn’s story in the 4th installment of the Montgomery Ink Series. I found this one to be an inspirational tale of two people whose lives are a wreck coming together to heal one another. Griffin has hit a standstill with his latest book and as an effect his home is complete chaos. To help, his family hires an assistant to keep him and his chaotic life in balance. As fate would have it that assistant is Autumn the one girl he can’t take his eye off of. Autumn first strolled into town in the previous book with little known about her. As her story unfolds in this book we learn that she is a drifter constantly on the run from someone. The struggles on trying to detach herself from the Montgomery family prove to be quite difficult but Autumn knows she must do so in order to keep them safe. As the story progresses we see the chemistry between these two heat up and our hearts can’t help but fall for them.
Once again I find myself in love with yet another Montgomery boy and although Griffin isn’t my favorite of the brothers I really enjoyed watching his story find it’s HEA. What I enjoyed most was the different take on Griffin compared to the previous men of the Montgomery Ink series. Griffin while without a doubt is one sexy man had this more creative and mysterious vibe about him. It was refreshing to see that not all the Montgomery boys are the same. Ryan executed another powerful romance filled with enough conflict and steamy romance to keep you turning page after page.
Enter Autumn Minor, she's working at Montgomery Inc as a receptionist and any other job, that comes to hand, and she keeps a low profile. She doesn't want to be remembered. Of course that's impossible around the Montgomery's, once the pull you into their family, you ARE family. Now Autumn is working as Griffin's housekeeper and helping him make his deadline with his latest novel. Of course, it will be harder than she could have ever thought, since her eyes keep wandering to his, tats, beard, muscles, etc.
Autumn has her own problems and getting involved with Griffin just makes everything more difficult and impossible. Both she and Griffin need help, maybe they can help each other and of course there's the rest of the Montgomery's.
Since Autumn has been taken under the Montgomery's wings as a "member" of their family, the fact that she was so good at being organized seemed like a perfect fit for Marie to hire Autumn to get Griffin's life under control. Needless to say Griffin wasn't thrilled with the plan....
"The M&Ms were with her - Maya, Miranda and Meghan. The only Montgomery woman missing was Sierra, but he figured she was home with the new baby. When most of the women in his life showed up unannounced with scowls on their faces and hands on their hips, it couldn't end well for Griffin."
Watching these two dance around each other was quite comical at times. They were both attracted to each other, but for reasons we find out later in the book, didn't really want to admit it nor did they want to do anything about it....
"He quirked a grin at her, and she was pretty sure her womb clenched. Seriously. Her womb. How the hell was that even possible? And come to think about it, that kind of clenching wasn't sexy in the least. This man was single-handedly burning her brain cells. Soon, she'd have a single brain cell left, singing a sad little tune about being lonely."
I read in awe how Autumn just went about her business of getting Griffin's home that per his words, "looked like a bomb went off in it" while he was trying to work on his latest novel. Which by the way wasn't going well, as he's got some serious writer's block going on! They're constant bickering amused me. Especially the nicknames they gave each other. Insulting but cute at the same time!
"Are you like twelve? I thought you were a writer. Can't you come up with something a bit more clever?" "I could, but I like the look on your face when I say it."
What I also loved with the obvious sexual tension is the very graphic nature of both our H/h's visions of what their f**king would look like. And there's no mistake about it, it would be F**king and not making love.... in my opinion so much more fun! And fun they did have...
As we move through the book, it appears that having Autumn in his home while he's writing, which given all his author's quirks, seems to be helping Griffin. As much as he doesn't want to admit it either!! And boy do things get interesting when Autumn is forced to help Griffin with his writing so he can meet his deadline. Not only do we get to see how his brain works, but the sex is off the charts hot!
We also discover Autumn has some quirks and even some secrets of her own, that keeps her from getting close to people and staying in one place for too long. I loved how descriptive the author was with Autumn's reactions to her surroundings were. It made me feel like I was standing there with her, even to the point that I too had the hairs on my neck bristling.
Speaking of these secrets, Autumn is literally forced to reveal them to Griffin and bring him into a world that she didn't want to talk about for fear others would be hurt like she was. Watching how Griffin dealt with this made me swoon just a little bit. I found myself wanting to yell at Griffin and Autumn to admit their feelings for each other so they could get an HEA. But, as you may expect, it's never that easy! Will they get their HEA? If they do, is it smooth sailing to get their? Hmmm guess you'll have to read the book to find out.
