I had known about racism in the Democratic party, but I didn't know to what extent. I had never heard of the Red shirts of South Carolina, and how they murdered Black soldiers, and they suppressed the vote in the south. I also learned where the practice of red-lining came from. After reading this book I really can't see why any African American can be a Democrat.

If you’re looking for the truth and contemporaneous materials that back up every racist charge against the Democratic Party, this book exposes the vile racist history of the Party in their own shocking words. I’ve independently researched random footnotes against the Congressional Record and even things like the NYT archives and this book is on sound, accurate historical footing. Highly recommend.

This was a pretty good book that put the democrats' racism on full display. A few things that I found interesting were that the New York Times was strongly anti-republican as far back as 1860 and the democrat party was playing the race card also as far back as the 1860s. Seems like nothing changes. The one criticism I have is the author's delusional insistence that the republican party should push for reparations for slavery. Any serious study of this initiative would show that it is logistically impossible to implement.
