I have read all of Colette Freedman’s books, so naturally I picked this one up and was blown away by Steve Dorff’s story. Not that familiar with the music industry, I immediately championed this man who is a lesson to all of us. His clear talent coupled with this determination, persistence and sense of humor allowed him to become one of the greats. Speaking of humor, this book is not staid at all as many biographies are. Dorff’s humor comes out loud and clear as he attacks all of his situations with a keen, observation wit which leaves the reader wanting more. An excellent read about a subject I know little about. It will make you want to go listen to all of Steve Dorff’s music (there is a discography in the back which lists his projects which are innumerable). I strongly recommend this book which gives excellent insight into the music world in a series of wry, witty and delightful anecdotes.
