Every Wusthof knife is crafted in Solingen, Germany; a family-owned and managed company with a rich heritage since 1814. Each Wusthof knife collection is made of high quality materials & craftsmanship. Precision forged featuring a full tang, high-carbon stainless steel with bolster to add balance and weight. The new Precision Edge Technology (PEtec) enhances the blades sharpness by 20%, and will last twice as long. Each knife features a computer controlled cutting edge to ensure the final edge of the blade is precise and uniform from the tip to the heel of the knife. Each knife blade is completely buffed & polished by hand. Made in Germany; lifetime warranty.

Upon opening the box and examining everything I immediately noticed the slim block is nowhere in the realm of being Walnut like I ordered. It says, "Walnut" underneath, but the stain job on it is so poorly done that it looks almost like the Arcacia color instead. I have numerous other items in my kitchen and dining area that are Walnut - dark and rich - and this slim block is not it in comparison to what Walnut should be and what you see in the photo online. That's problem number one.
After removing all the knives, inspecting them, and placing each one in their respective slot holders in the block I then notice large "chips/knicks" of wood missing from the face of the slim block. I've taken pictures and filed a report with Amazon regarding the issue and I'm waiting to hear back from the seller now.
The knives overall are extremely sharp. SCARY SHARP. There's no disputing that, but does having "sharp" knives outweigh the feeling of having "solidly" built quality knives?
Going down the list of knives starting at the top, the 8-inch Chef's Knife feels solid in your hand and has decent weight to it. However, once you get to the 8-inch Bread Knife and go down the list, they feel light and flimsy in your hand. Example being that you can literally "bend" the blade on each knife going down the line because the blade itself is extremely thin metal - especially compared to my old knife set which I bought years ago at Walmart for under $100. I imagine thinner is better to get a cleaner cut, but my main major concern is safety. What if you're cutting into something the causes the knife to snag and bend? Will the knife snap in half and cut your finger off accidentally? I guess only time will tell.
The little red "sticker" you see on the handles is indeed a sticker. I asked several different people whether it was stamped or etched on, or a sticker prior to purchasing so was well-aware that it would be a sticker. But, it's more orange than red. If I keep this set I'll probably just remove them with some goo-off because they'll definitely fade over time and look tacky. They already look kinda tacky as is because they're unevenly cut from whatever printer machine they're using before being placed on the handle. Very shoddy work.
The scissors are well-made and I love that you can take them apart to clean them.
I'm waiting to hear back from the seller regarding the slim block issue to which I'll re-update the review based on their customer service response.
As others have noted, the shears are not made by Wusthof (no country of origin listed), so buy this set for the knives, not the shears. If you need a good pair of shears try Kershaw for an inexpensive set or try Cutco (if cost is no object).
Nice, solid knife block.
