The compact size, pointed tip and ultra-fine edge of this 3-1/2-inch knife makes it the ideal tool for trimming fruits and vegetables. An essential for the well-stocked kitchen, its crucial for hand-held tasks like deveining peppers or peeling potatoes. Like the rest of the Grand Prix2 line, this knife is safe in the dishwasher, but hand wash for best results.
Grand Prix2 knives offer a compelling blend of precision, comfort, and legendary Wüsthof quality. Like the Grand Prix line, Grand Prix2 boasts a high-performance handle and a sleek contemporary look, with the addition of a more rolling, rounded profile that fits beautifully into the pocket of the palm. Molded ergonomically designed handles are pebble-textured for slip resistance even when wet, then permanently bonded to the entire tang for a superbly balanced feel. Blade, bolster, and tang are precision-forged from a single piece of high-carbon stainless steel for the ultimate in strength and durability. A computer-controlled process grinds and polishes the blade so its perfectly tapered from back to edge and tip to handle. The edge is then twice honed by hand and finally laser-tested for long-lasting sharpness. Grand Prix2 cutlery is made in Germany and carries a lifetime warranty against defects. --Mary Park

I went with the slightly cheaper Grand Prix over the Classic for the paring knife because it's not used as much as a chef's knife, and figured the looks are less important for this piece. I also thought the handle might be grippier so a bit safer, while offering more utility. First thing I noticed is that this knife didn't have quite the heft I was expecting(yes, even out of a paring knife), but the blade is of obvious quality and is sharp. The handle feels a little plasticky, and less grippy or weighted than expected. The blade and bolster are nicely finished. The blade is thick and feels solid with only a slight flex, like it should. It's got an all-around solid feel and impressive edge, but that was expected out of the box for the price. The knife handles well, and I do expect to have it last forever. I still have to admit to making the comparison to a box cutter with that initial feel, though. So far, it's peeled and sliced a hard carrot and celery root with decent precision and ease upon arrival. I'll update on how well it holds an edge over time, which was the big draw to going with the Wusthof stuff in the end. I also picked-up the 8" Classic Cooks knife Wide while I was at it too, and can't wait for it to arrive in the next few days.
— A year later and it’s still an incredible lnife. Had a knife sharpener come out for our other cutlery and was more impressed with the Wusthof than any of our henkles. Had no idea the kind of reputation they have. Buying more now too
